Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Process Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) with Mandarin proficiency to support the design, installation, commissioning and optimization of a new plant. You will work with internal teams, contractors, equipment suppliers and technical experts to ensure readiness.

Responsibilities include planning, installation and commissioning, reviewing drawings and P&IDs, monitoring progress, testing and start‑up, and procedure development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, process engineering or equivalent.
• 2–8 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, chemical, refinery, waste management, oil & gas, or industrial processing plants.
• Experience in plant setup, commissioning, project engineering or process improvement is highly preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of industrial utilities, process equipment, pumps, motors, piping systems, and control systems.
• Mandarin proficiency is required to communicate with China-based teams and suppliers.

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, DOE requirements and HSE standards.
• Work with Operations and Maintenance for a smooth handover after commissioning.
• Prepare project reports, technical documentation, and engineering recommendations.

The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, installation, commissioning, and optimization of a new plant. The role works closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, equipment suppliers, and technical experts to ensure the successful implementation of plant processes, equipment, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

Support the planning, design, installation, and commissioning of the new scheduled waste plant.

Coordinate with technical teams, equipment suppliers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, layouts, and technical specifications.

Monitor project progress and ensure works are completed according to schedule, quality, and safety requirements.

Assist in equipment testing, troubleshooting, performance validation, and plant start-up activities.

Develop and optimize plant operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.

Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance plant efficiency, productivity, and cost effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, DOE requirements, and company HSE standards.

Work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure a smooth handover after commissioning.

Prepare project reports, technical documentation, and engineering recommendations for management.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent.

2-8 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, chemical, refinery, waste management, oil & gas, or industrial processing plants.

Experience in plant setup, commissioning, project engineering, or process improvement is highly preferred.

Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.

Knowledge of industrial utilities, process equipment, pumps, motors, piping systems, and control systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Mandarin proficiency is required to communicate effectively with China-based technical teams, suppliers, and contractors.

Willing to travel and work at project sites during plant construction and commissioning.
