Job summary

BD is seeking a Process Engineer at our Kulim site for a 1-year fixed-term contract to support material and process development, new material qualifications, validation and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will lead latex compounding, process chemical management, waste management and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with EHS, Quality, DOE and BD requirements.

Strong technical background in latex or polymer technologies and hands-on project management are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in polymer science, latex technology, materials science/engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in a similar field.
  • Strong technical background in latex and/or polymer technologies.

Process Engineer (1-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

Job Summary

A 1-year Fixed-Term Process Engineer is required to support project-related activities, including material and process development, new material qualification, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The incumbent will lead and support activities related to latex compounding, process chemical management, waste management, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with EHS, Quality, DOE, and BD requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute and implement the BD Excellence workflow.
  • Manage and supervise Compounding and Catheter Offline Dipping Equipment (CODE) operations.
  • Lead material and process development activities to support EHS, quality, and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and execute new material qualifications and validation activities to support project objectives and business continuity.
  • Continue EHS improvement initiatives to reduce process-related risks.
  • Oversee chemical and latex preparation activities to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
  • Manage latex compounding operations and process chemical activities to support manufacturing needs.
  • Oversee waste management and alcohol recovery processes in compliance with DOE and High Hazard Operation requirements.
  • Lead and motivate team members to drive continuous improvement initiatives and achieve yield targets.
  • Work closely with COE (UCC) on latex technology initiatives and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Provide technical consultation on material science-related matters to support process and yield improvements.
  • Manage CAPA documentation and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate monthly stock count activities and other inventory-related requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with BD Quality Systems, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business and project needs.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Polymer Science, Latex Technology, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in a similar field.
  • Strong technical background in latex and/or polymer technologies.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Medical device manufacturing experience is an added advantage.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Scheduled Waste Management.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in report writing.
  • Advanced analytical thinking and self-driven approach.
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills.
