Job summary

QDOS INTERCONNECT SDN BHD in Penang seeks a Chemical Process Engineer to drive process readiness and improvements across yield, quality, cycle time, and cost. You will implement FMEA, control plans, OCAPs, and SOPs while ensuring EHS compliance and risk mitigation.

The role requires hands-on process optimization, data analysis, and collaboration across internal teams to enable new designs and cost reductions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma and related quality improvement methods.
• Experience designing, monitoring and optimizing chemical processes for yield/cost.
• Familiarity with environmental, health and safety guidelines in chemical manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure process readiness to meet Quality, Yield, Cycle and Cost targets.
• Drive SPC and improvement to meet/exceed Cpk targets.
• Develop SOPs, work instructions, process specs and checklists including EHS requirements.
• Collaborate with internal partners to ensure SOP compliance and mitigate manufacturing risks.
• Provide training and certification to floor personnel through OPLs and tests.
• Solve problems to identify root causes and implement fixes.
• Contribute to new process envelops for market expansion and new equipment capability.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for overall process readiness and improvement to meet Quality, Yield, Cycle and Cost target.
• Ensure process readiness through effective FMEA, Control Plan, OCAP, Work Instruction, Process Spec & Check List including EHS requirements.
• Monitor and drive improvement on key process health indicators (Yield/Defect, Quality etc)
• Drive Statistical Process Control and improvement to meet/exceed process Cpk target.
• Establish priority list on gaps/opportunities with effective closure plan.
• Drive effective work method and solution through automation and poka yoke solution.
• Build strong collaboration with internal partners to drive SOP compliance and mitigate manufacturing risks/surprises.
• Provide OPL (One Point Lesson) and certification test to ensure all floor personnel are adequately trained and qualified.
• Perform effective problem solving for root cause identification and fixes.
• Participate in the disposition of discrepant materials.
• Participate in external issue resolution and customer 8D task force.
• Expand new Process Envelop and Capability to support new design wins and/or manufacturing cost/quality.
• Participate in new process envelop for new market penetration through innovation and/or new equipment capability.
• Perform new equipment capability study, process sign off and machine buy off.
• Responsible to develop, characterize and optimize process parameters to meet new process envelop target and production requirements".
• Responsible for new material evaluation and certification

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor/PCB substrate processes (etching, plating, lamination etc).
• Experience in cleanroom operations and adherence to contamination control standards.
• Proficiency in chemical handling and safety protocols, including hazardous materials management.
• Ability to design, monitor, and optimize chemical processes for yield improvement and cost reduction.
• Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, and other quality improvement tools.
• Hands-on experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of environmental regulations and waste treatment processes in chemical manufacturing.
