Process Engineer - Carbon (12-month Contract)
1. Process Development & Improvement
- Develop & improve carbon manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, yield and product quality.
- Conduct process simulation, feasibility studies & risk assessment.
- Implement lean manufacturing methodologies to eliminate waste and reduce variability.
- Recommend and implement changes to materials and processes based on results of experimental evaluations.
2. Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Create and maintain clear manufacturing process sequence and technique documents for compliance, ease and efficiency of manufacturing.
- Monitor production processes and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Investigate and resolve process‑related issues including root cause analysis and participate in material review board (MRB).
- Lead support and training of Safran Landing Systems manufacturing personnel and maintenance team for new process and equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing team regarding respective carbon manufacturing equipment and its auxiliaries, including routine operation, emergency procedures and safety considerations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the team and Operations/Maintenance, including establishment of SOPs, WIs and Special Manufacturing Request updates.
3. Quality and Compliance
- Ensure processes meet industry standard and regulatory requirements (Aviation Regulation, EN9100, OSHA etc).
- Lead and implement the processes changes accordingly to technical definition changes.
- Lead and perform the process and equipment qualification and validation accordingly to Safran Landing Systems process and procedures including First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Develop and maintain documentation (standard operating procedure (SOPs), work instruction, SMR, PFMEA etc.).
4. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collaborate with data engineer to collect and analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare reports on process performance, KPIs and project outcomes.
- Utilize statistical tools for process control and optimization.
5. Project Management
- Lead and support process improvement projects from conception to implementation.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (R&D, supply chain, quality) to ensure project success.
- Manage budget, timelines and resources for engineering projects.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment and automation solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practises in process engineering.
6. General Responsibilities
- Comply with the Group’s Ethics and Business Code of Conducts, 5S and Safety policies and all applicable customer standards.
- Adhere and actively participate in occupational Safety, Health and Environmental policies, Energy policies procedures and activities such as I‑See I‑Act, GPI, low carbon initiative etc.
- Adhere and comply with Business Ethics, Anti‑Corruption, Flight Safety Management System, and other relevant policies, procedures and activities.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent applicable experience required. Related technical field preferred. Master’s degree would be a plus.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in related technical field such as induction & convection furnace, composite/carbon manufacturing or its equivalent.
- Strong knowledge in material science, and chemical engineering.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills of English language.
- Able to read technical material, technical drawing, PFDs and P&IDs, develop analysis and make recommendations.
- “Hands on” approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Good computer skills especially with Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, experience with DCS, Data Mining, Statistical Analysis, Minitab, Power BI etc.
- Experience in Aerospace industry will be an advantage.
