Job summary

POSH in Sedenak, Johor, seeks a Principal Engineer - Electrical for K2 Data Centres. You will lead electrical design & delivery across data centre projects, driving HV/MV distribution, protection studies and commissioning.

This on-site, full-time role requires strong technical leadership, international standards knowledge, and collaboration with design consultants, contractors and internal teams. Based in Malaysia, you will travel between sites as needed and mentor junior engineers while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical/Power or Building Services Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer preferred.
• 6+ years of electrical/power design experience in substations 33kV/132kV/275kV and data centre projects.
• Strong knowledge of HV/MV distribution engineering and protection studies.
• Proficiency in MS Office and IES software.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager or Delivery Manager in data centre design and construction phases for site management, construction quality control and HSE.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure data centre facility is built to group standards.
• Review design consultant’s work to ensure design documents are developed with all necessary engineering calculations.
• Communicate with design consultants and contractors/vendors to ensure all required deliverables are achieved.
• Maintain K2 internal engineering standards focusing on Electrical distribution and protection systems.
• Support commissioning/troubleshooting and final handover activities.
• Support engineering design and development activities.
• Establish procedures following K2 standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager or Delivery Manager in data centre design and construction phases for site management, construction quality control and HSE.
• Monitor construction activities closely on a regular basis and ensure the data centre facility is built to group's standard.
• Responsible for the review and approval of design consultant’s work to ensure design documents are sufficiently developed with all necessary engineering calculations in place.
• Responsible for communicating with design consultants and contractors/vendors to ensure all required deliverables are achieved.
• Responsible for maintaining K2 internal engineering standards with particular focus on Electrical distribution and protection system.
• Support and manage project commissioning/troubleshooting and final handover activities.
• Support of K2 internal engineering design and development activities.
• Establish engineering and operation procedures following K2 standard.
• To travel from one site to another for support if required, as the position is site-based.
• Reporting day-to-day basic tasks and alignment to the Line Manager.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Electrical/Power or Building Services Engineering
• Chartered Engineer preferred
• Relevant Uptime/TIA certificates preferred
• 6 years minimum of working experience in Electrical/Power design on substation 33kV/132kV/275kV and construction project delivery (data centre projects preferred).
• Good knowledge in Electrical HV/MV distribution Engineering with a good understanding on data centre project and protection study
• Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) with experience in Mechanical HVAC software, such as IES.
• Good command of written and spoken English is required, as that will be the main working language.
• Candidates fluent in Chinese and/or Bahasa Indonesia/Malay will have an advantage, as the role may require working with native Data Center employees based in Indonesia, Malaysia, or China.
• Familiar with TNB/local authorities’ procedure, standard code and requirement.
