Job summary

HR Exchange Pte. Ltd. in Malaysia seeks an Electrical Manager to lead on-site electrical design, construction and commissioning for a multi-MW hyperscale data centre in the JB/KL region.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Commissioning Managers to validate system performance.
• Ensure timely submission of OMM, as-built drawings, and authority certifications.
• Support QA/QC, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supervisors, and contractors for electrical delivery.
• Interface with hyperscaler clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve issues.

ELECTRICAL MANAGER (JB/KL) [Job Code 2609124A]

Responsibilities:

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of electrical systems for a multi-MW hyperscale data centre.

Oversee design reviews, value engineering, and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.

Manage subcontractors, vendors, and consultants for all electrical packages (MV/HV, LV, UPS, generators, switchgear, busduct, cabling, earthing, and lighting).

Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, and test procedures for electrical works.

Drive project delivery milestones including energization, partial RFS, and final handover.

Develop and manage the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and ensure all FAT, SAT, IST activities are executed successfully.

Coordinate with Commissioning Managers to validate integrated electrical system performance.

Ensure timely submission and approval of OMM (Operation & Maintenance Manuals), as-built drawings, and authority certifications.

Compliance & Authority Liaison

Ensure all works adhere to Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), TNB, DOE, BOMBA, and other relevant statutory requirements.

Support utility interfacing, permit approvals, and energization with TNB and local authorities.

Implement project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Team Management & Coordination

Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supervisors, and contractors for electrical delivery.

Conduct coordination meetings with M&E, CSA, and client representatives to resolve technical issues.

Collaborate closely with Mechanical, IT, and Civil/Structural teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Risk, Safety & Reliability

Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans for electrical scope (e.g., lead times, grid connection, reliability).

Implement robust Electrical Safety Management practices, including LOTO, arc flash protection, and PTW systems.

Ensure redundancy (N+1 / 2N) and reliability targets are achieved as per hyperscaler standards.

Requirements:

Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Professional Engineer (PEng / Ir) or equivalent certification preferred.

Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design, construction, and commissioning - with at least 3 years in data centre or mission-critical projects.

Strong knowledge of MV/HV systems (11kV-275kV), LV distribution, UPS, generators, and critical power infrastructure.

Familiarity with international standards (IEEE, IEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute) and local regulations (ST, TNB, DOSH, BOMBA).

Proven track record of leading large-scale data centre or hyperscale projects.

Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills to interface with hyperscaler clients, consultants, and contractors.
