Job summary

Dyson seeks a Principal Engineer for BoM & Configuration Management to define, govern and improve BoM and CM capabilities across Product Development. You will act as the subject matter expert for product structures, configuration governance and traceability within the PLM ecosystem.

You will collaborate with Engineering, IT, PLM Product Ownership and process owners to ensure the product definition and configuration management stays effective, scalable and aligned to the digital thread roadmap.

Qualifications

Significant experience in Configuration Management, Product Data Management, or related engineering disciplines.
Experience defining or improving product configuration and lifecycle governance in a complex development environment.
Strong understanding of BoM structures, configuration control and product traceability.
Experience with PLM, PDM, ERP or engineering lifecycle platforms.
Experience supporting engineering transformation and cross-functional collaboration.
Ability translating complex business requirements into structured engineering processes.
Understanding of digital thread and lifecycle governance principles.

Responsibilities

Own the strategic direction, governance and continuous improvement of BoM and Configuration Management capabilities.
Define, maintain and govern processes, standards and operating procedures.
Ensure capability development aligns with product development strategy and PLM roadmap.
Establish capability maturity measures and support governance across Product Development.
Drive standardisation and optimisation of BoM and configuration management across units.
Promote industry best practices for product definition and lifecycle control.
Collaborate with PLM owners to ensure Teamcenter and connected platforms support CM processes.
Define business requirements for future digital thread capabilities and configuration traceability.
Support engineering lifecycle workflows linking product definition, change and release.
Provide guidance and training materials for process transformation initiatives.
Monitor adoption, compliance and effectiveness across Product Development.
Identify risks and opportunities for improvement; support audits and governance reviews.
