Job summary

Dyson GmbH is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to drive MBSE practices across our product development teams in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. You will translate complex product visions into precise requirements for internal and external partners, ensuring complete traceability and coherence through system architectures.

You will lead a growing team of Systems Engineers, coach peers, and integrate Systems Engineering into cross-functional programs, balancing trade-offs and maintaining high quality

Qualifications

  • A first Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/Electronics/Software Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Systems Engineering processes in a product development environment.
  • Demonstrable experience deriving clear, unambiguous requirements from product vision.

Responsibilities

  • Primary liaison between Dyson internal teams and ODM/JDM partners on Systems Engineering topics.
  • Translate product vision into clear user, business and product requirements and ensure their completeness.
  • Develop product architectures using MBSE to decompose problems into functional, physical, logical and behavioural chunks.
  • Create unambiguous requirements for engineering teams and external partners.
  • Build simulations to balance requirements early and support verification activities.
  • Lead and coach a growing Systems Engineering team and mentor at all levels.

Detailed Job Scope (Roles & Responsibilities)
  • They shall be the primary contact between Dyson internal teams and ODM/JDM partners when it comes to topics concerning Systems Engineering and all assets generated/maintained by the Systems Engineering team.
  • They shall work at the core of our product development process and use established systems engineering tools and methods to bring clarity from ambiguity.
  • They shall be responsible for translating our product vision into clear and concise user, business, and product requirements. They are accountable for the correctness and completeness of the requirements specification at product level and their cascade to the sub-system layer.
  • Using MBSE methods to develop product architectures, decomposing the problem into digestible functional, physical, logical, and behavioural chunks.
  • Creating unambiguous, useable requirements for engineering teams to design to, both internally within Dyson as well as at external development partners.
  • Build and coordinate system-wide simulations where necessary to help us balance requirements early.
  • Work collaboratively with all our engineering teams to clarify work packages, manage trade-off studies, and resolve engineering issues. Ensure correctness and completeness of verification and validation activities.
  • Lead and coach a growing core team of Systems Engineers of all levels of expertise. Coaching & Mentoring shall exist at all levels and in all directions within the team as it grows.
  • Driving the Systems Engineering process and ethos into the wider company as required, educating other RDD employees in Systems Engineering to resolve technical challenges.
  • Follow a Leader-Leader mind-set, they shall work autonomously in a cross-functional team setup.
Qualifications
  • A first Degree in Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/Electronics/Software Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Systems Engineering processes and applications in a product development environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in performing systems breakdown, architecture definition and using functional analysis techniques resulting in well written, unambiguous requirements.
  • Capable of working in an agile and autonomous manner.
  • Experience managing requirements and product architectures when working with external development partners in an ODM/JDM setup.
  • A good grasp of MBSE including experience building SysML models using Systems Engineering Modelling Software is desirable but, not essential.
  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools and Product Lifecycle Management tools is also desirable but not essential.
  • A clear, logical thinker with attention to detail and an appreciation for engineering fundamentals and critical analysis.
  • Great collaboration and communication skills.
