Job summary

ENG TEKNOLOGI SDN. BHD. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on WWTP equipment and utility systems in Penang. You will troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

The role requires 1–3 years of WWTP or utilities maintenance, basic process knowledge, and willingness to work shifts, with a focus on safety and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in relevant engineering field.
• 1–3 years in WWTP operations or utilities maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, pumps, motors, and utility systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance independently.
• Willing to work shifts, standby, or overtime.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and unscheduled corrective maintenance for WWTP equipment and utility systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues related to WWTP and utilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and monitoring of equipment performance and operating conditions.
• Maintain maintenance records, service reports, and equipment history documentation.
• Operate and maintain the WWTP in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.
• Monitor WWTP processes, chemical dosing systems, pumps, filtration systems, and treatment parameters to ensure discharge standards compliance.
• Perform routine checks, sampling, testing, and preventive maintenance on WWTP equipment and systems.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals used in wastewater treatment operations.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping within the WWTP area.
• Support other technicians during troubleshooting, maintenance, and emergency repair activities.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Participate in safety training, audits, and emergency response exercises.

Job description

Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely, efficiently, and without errors to prevent operational delays and downtime.

Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues related to WWTP and utility operations.

Conduct routine inspections and monitoring of equipment performance and operating conditions.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment history documentation.

Operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.

Monitor WWTP processes, chemical dosing systems, pumps, filtration systems, and treatment parameters to ensure compliance with discharge standards.

Perform routine checks, sampling, testing, and preventive maintenance on WWTP equipment and systems.

Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals used in wastewater treatment operations.

Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping practices within the WWTP area.

3. Team Support & Downtime Reduction

Support other technicians during troubleshooting, maintenance, and emergency repair activities.

Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.

Respond promptly to operational issues and emergency maintenance requirements.

4. Safety & Compliance

Ensure all maintenance and operational activities comply with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.

Follow proper PPE requirements, Lockout Tagout (LOTO), and safe work practices during maintenance activities.

Participate in safety training, audits, and emergency response exercises when required.

Ensure compliance with environmental discharge and wastewater treatment standards.

Requirements

Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.

Minimum 1-3 years of working experience in WWTP operations, utilities maintenance, or related field.

Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, pumps, motors, and utility systems.

Able to perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance activities independently.

Familiarity with environmental, safety, and maintenance procedures will be an added advantage.

Willing to work on shifts, standby, or overtime when required.

Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
