Job summary

AEL Engineering Sdn. Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead APQP/NPI initiatives from feasibility through SOP+, coordinating across engineering, quality, sourcing and production to meet customer expectations and ensure on-time, within-spec deliveries for all programs.

The role demands 5+ years in project management within manufacturing, a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and proficiency with MS Project and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in project management and related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead project from Phase0 feasibility to SOP+, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain project plans, trackers, milestones and gate reviews.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, design, sourcing, and production.
• Customize costing activities, BOMs, drawings, for accurate project estimation.
• Provide regular status updates, risks, and improvement recommendations.

Job description

Main Responsibilities

i) Project Leading, Planning, Execution & Continuous Improvement

• Lead Project from Phase0-Feasibility Study to Phase6-SOP+3 to meet customer expectation and achieve customer satisfaction,
• Project plan and tracker for all awarded programs.
• Manage project tracker for project timelines, milestones, gate review and deliverables across all phases (APQP Phase 0–6) to ensure flawless project execution.
• Timely submission of TR, DFM, ECN, PPAP and prototype/samples in alignment with customer requirements and internal timelines.
• Support OpEx initiatives to enhance project efficiency, reduce cycle time, and improve customer satisfaction.

ii) Communication & Leadership

• Facilitate cross-functional communication between External/Internal customer, PM, quality, design, engineering, sourcing, SCM and production teams for NPI and ECN projects.
• Review, approve, and elevate key project milestones, risks, and mitigation plans as needed.

iii) Costing Management

• Project ROI costing activities, ensure the standard product cost remains consistent from the quotation stage, through design, to mass production, and its gap analysis, review & approval.
• Collaborate with Sales, Business Development and Engineering to gather accurate BOMs, 2D/3D drawings, AVL data, and manufacturing process details for project estimation.

iv) Reporting & Documentation

• Ensure accurate documentation of costing sheets, project timelines, and change management records.
• Provide regular updates and reporting to senior leadership on project status, risks, costing variances, and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

• Customer oriented, strong analytical, leadership, technical and communication skills.
• Proven experience managing APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)/NPI processes, and cross-functional project teams within a manufacturing or engineering environment. (The automotive & Electronics industry is preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in project management.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; PMP certification preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Ms Excel), and ERP systems
