Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience, including NPI and industrialization.
• Experience in precision manufacturing, machining, metal components, fasteners or similar environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineers and NPI teams on customer projects from evaluation to production launch.
• Strong project management, process capability, structured problem solving, continuous improvement and cost management.
• Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, manufacturing analytics or business intelligence tools.

• Support commercial teams during the quotation stage by providing technical feasibility, manufacturing concepts, cost assumptions and risk assessments.
• Lead industrialization activities following project award, including process development, validation and production readiness.
• Ensure new products achieve required standards for quality, manufacturability, cost and production stability.
• Coordinate structured project reviews and ensure effective transfer from engineering into regular production.

The position works closely with commercial and operational functions to ensure new products and manufacturing solutions are technically feasible, cost-effective and successfully transitioned into stable production.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

Lead the Engineering and NPI team and provide direction on technical priorities, project execution and capability development.

Develop engineers and project leaders through coaching, technical guidance and structured performance management.

Establish effective engineering practices, project controls and review processes.

Promote accountability and effective collaboration across Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain and commercial teams.

Review projects at key milestones and elevate significant technical, resource or investment concerns when required.

Strengthen project execution discipline and ownership across the engineering team.

Manufacturing & Process Improvement

Drive engineering improvements relating to manufacturing capability, productivity, quality and cost.

Apply structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies to address technical and production issues.

Support process capability improvement and reduction of manufacturing variation, waste and inefficiencies.

Use operational and engineering data to identify trends and support fact-based decisions.

Introduce appropriate reporting and visualization tools to improve visibility of engineering and project performance.

Technical Capability & Knowledge Management

Develop systems for capturing and sharing engineering knowledge, lessons learned and technical best practices.

Reduce dependency on individual technical knowledge by improving documentation and standardization.

Encourage collaboration and technical knowledge exchange across manufacturing locations and engineering teams.

Improve consistency in engineering documentation, design practices and working methodologies.

Innovation & Technology Development

Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes through new technologies, methods and engineering solutions.

Evaluate practical applications of new manufacturing concepts based on business and operational requirements.

Encourage engineers to challenge existing processes and develop solutions that improve competitiveness.

Support technical benchmarking and adoption of relevant manufacturing best practices.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.

Minimum 10 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience, with exposure to NPI, industrialization, project engineering or related functions.

Experience within precision manufacturing, machining, metal components, fasteners or comparable manufacturing environments would be advantageous.

Demonstrated experience managing new product or customer projects from technical evaluation and quotation through industrialization and production launch.

Previous experience leading engineers, NPI teams or multidisciplinary technical projects.

Good understanding of project management, process capability, structured problem-solving, continuous improvement and manufacturing cost management.

Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, manufacturing analytics or business intelligence tools would be beneficial.

Strong ability to work across commercial and operational functions including Sales, Production, Quality and Supply Chain.

Strong leadership, analytical, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
