Job summary

MatchaTalent seeks a Deputy Head of the Malaysia Branch to establish and grow operations in Penang and nearby hubs, overseeing branch management, business development, local teams, and cross-border coordination with the China headquarters.

The ideal candidate will have deep Malaysian logistics expertise, strong leadership, fluent Chinese and English, and willingness to relocate on-site. Malay proficiency is preferred for local regulatory communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
• 5+ years in logistics with at least 2 years in team leadership.
• Proven experience in logistics operations, business development or related areas.
• Fluent Chinese and English; Malay preferred for local comms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment and day-to-day management of the Malaysia branch.
• Develop localized management systems, processes and reporting for Malaysia.
• Build and manage local operations, sales and customer service teams.
• Coordinate with local providers for warehousing, transport and customs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (tax, labour, customs, transport).
• Develop B2B relationships in Penang and nearby zones (Kulim, Bukit Mertajam).
• Maint​​ain relationships with manufacturers, industrial parks and associations.
• Coordinate China–Malaysia logistics solutions with China HQ.
• Oversee cross-border logistics between Malaysia and SEA markets.
