Lead a KL team of 6–7 Regional Payroll Specialists, manage end-to-end Australian payroll operations (STP Phase 2, PAYG, Superannuation), and ensure SLA governance. Initial 3 months on-site, then hybrid (3 Days WFO / 2 Days WFH).

Our client is seeking a high-autonomy Payroll Manager (Australian Payroll Outsourcing) to take full operational ownership of their Australian client portfolio based in Kuala Lumpur. This newly created headcount combines hands-on execution of complex Australian payrolls, client onboarding/database setup, and direct team leadership.
Team Leadership: Directly lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6 to 7 KL-based Regional Payroll Specialists to ensure daily operational discipline and strict SLA compliance.
Australian Payroll Execution: Oversee end-to-end Australian payroll operations, including Modern Award/timesheet interpretations, Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2), Superannuation clearing house submissions, PAYG withholding, and State Payroll Tax.
Quality Assurance & Governance: Conduct rigorous secondary reviews on all team payroll computations, variance reports, annual returns (EOFY), and bank submission files prior to regional release authorization.
Client Onboarding & Implementation: Lead the technical setup of new client databases, wage-type mappings, leave administration rules, and standardized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Client Advisory & Escalations: Serve as the primary operational point of contact for Australian client stakeholders, offering expert guidance on Australian payroll compliance and handling complex operational escalations.
Work Location & Model: Kuala Lumpur. On-site for the initial 3-month probation period, transitioning to a Hybrid model (3 Days WFO / 2 Days WFH) thereafter.
About the manager/team
This position reports directly to the regional Payroll Manager based Australia, acting as the primary local lead and escalation authority for the Kuala Lumpur delivery center. The role oversees a dedicated team of 6 to 7 Regional Payroll Specialists.
