• 8+ years in Payments/ Treasury/ Banking Operations or Financial Services.
• Experience leading operational teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of UK payment schemes: Faster Payments, CHAPS, SWIFT.
• Liquidity management, cash forecasting and reconciliations experience.
• Regulatory controls and risk management experience; ability to work in regulated environments.
• Right to work in Malaysia; fluent English; Mandarin or other European languages a plus.

Because of exceptional growth and future growth, we are seeking an experienced Payments & Treasury Operations Manager to lead a UK-facing Operations team based in Kuala Lumpur. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a payments professional looking to broaden their treasury exposure while supporting a dynamic international banking, fintech, or payments environment.

You will be responsible for the oversight of payment operations, liquidity management, cash positioning, treasury support activities, and operational controls, while leading a team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to UK-based customers and stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead the day-to-day management of Payments and Treasury Operations.
• Oversee payment processing across:
• Faster Payments: CHAPS, SWIFT & International and cross-border payment networks
• Manage payment investigations, exceptions, settlement issues, and operational escalations.
• Monitor daily liquidity positions and cash balances across multiple currencies.
• Support treasury funding requirements, cash forecasting & settlement activities.
• Oversee nostro account management and reconciliations.
• Ensure robust operational controls, risk management & regulatory compliance.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiency programes.
• Produce operational and treasury reporting for senior leadership.
• Build and develop a high performing operations team through coaching, mentoring and performance management

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience within Payments Operations, Treasury Operations, Banking Operations, or Financial Services Operations - do not apply if you do not have this experience.
• Proven experience managing operational teams.
• Strong understanding of UK payment schemes including Faster Payments, CHAPS, and SWIFT.
• Experience with liquidity management, cash management, funding, and reconciliations.
• Strong operational risk and controls background.
• Experience working within a regulated banking, fintech, payments, or financial services environment is essential.
• Candidates must have the rights to work in Malaysia - we will not sponsor candidates
• Must have excellent English communication skills, other languages highly preferred are Mandarin & Other European Languages

Preferred

• Exposure to Treasury Operations or Cash Management functions.
• Knowledge of ISO 20022 payment standards.
• Experience supporting UK or European markets.
• Professional qualifications such as ACT, AMCT, ACCA, CPA, or CFA.

Working Pattern

This role supports UK business hours from Kuala Lumpur.

Core Hours

3:00pm - 1:00am MYT, Monday to Friday

Additional Requirements

Participation in a rotational weekend and public holiday support roster

Occasional availability outside standard hours for critical incidents, major payment events, or business continuity requirements.
