Job summary

Spruson & Ferguson in Malaysia is seeking a Patent Engineer who will handle patent work including filing, searches, translations, and responses to office actions. You will support prosecution of patent applications in the Philippines and abroad.

The role requires a minimum bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related engineering field and solid English technical writing skills. 1–3 years of related experience is desirable, with opportunities for growth and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 1–3 years of experience in writing peer‑reviewed papers would be advantageous.
• Prior patent drafting, prior art search, handling office actions, or related areas would be a strong advantage.
• Strong technical writing skills in English with clear and logical writing.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Handle patent work including filing, searches, translations, and office actions.
• Prosecute patent applications and respond to office actions in the Philippines and abroad.
• Support filing, searches, translations and prosecution across jurisdictions.

What You Bring

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
