Job summary

MITIME CONSTRUCTION MALAYSIA SDN BHD is seeking a skilled Painting Inspector to oversee coating activities at project sites in Kimanis, Sabah. You will inspect surface preparation, monitor application processes, and verify coating thickness, adhesion, and finish quality to ensure compliance with project specs and QA/QC standards.

Candidates should hold relevant certifications such as IMM Level 2 or higher and NACE/SSPC/FROSIO equivalents, with experience in oil & gas or infra projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect surface preparation works including blasting, cleaning, and priming activities, ensuring compliance with specs.
• Monitor paint and coating application processes for conformity to project requirements.
• Conduct thickness (DFT), adhesion, and finishing quality inspections.
• Ensure correct coating systems and materials are used per method statements.
• Prepare inspection reports and QA/QC documentation.
• Identify coating defects and drive corrective actions before approval.
• Support final inspection and project handover documentation.

Job description

We are seeking a highly competent Painting Inspector to oversee and inspect coating and painting works at project sites. The role requires strong quality control knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure all surface preparation and coating works comply with project specifications, QA/QC standards, and safety requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

Inspect surface preparation works including blasting, cleaning, and priming activities

Monitor paint and coating application processes to ensure compliance with project specifications

Conduct inspection on coating thickness (DFT), adhesion, and finishing quality

Ensure correct coating systems and materials are used according to approved method statements

Interpret project drawings, specifications, and ITP (Inspection & Test Plan) requirements

Coordinate with engineers, QA/QC personnel, supervisors, and contractors

Prepare inspection reports, QA/QC documentation, and compliance records

Identify coating defects and ensure corrective actions are carried out before approval

Support final inspection and project handover documentation

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 3 years working experience in coating inspection (preferably oil & gas / infrastructure projects)

Possess minimum SPM/SPMV or equivalent

Possess IMM Coating Inspector Level 2 or equivalent

Must hold at least one of the following certifications:

NACE International Level 1 or above

SSPC PCI Level 1 or above

FROSIO Level 1 or above

BGAS-CSWIP Level 1 or above

Strong knowledge of surface preparation, coating systems, and inspection methods

Familiar with inspection tools such as DFT gauge and coating inspection checklists

Able to read technical drawings, specifications, and QA/QC documents

Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset

Able to work independently at project site

Good coordination and communication skills

Willing to work at project site in Kimanis, Sabah
