Job summary

Jesselton Medical Centre SDN BHD is seeking an experienced optometrist to join our Eye Unit in Kota Kinabalu. The role involves managing daily operations, conducting comprehensive eye examinations, and performing advanced diagnostic tests with a collaborative nursing team.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Optometry with a valid APC and have at least five years of related experience. Mandarin language skills are an added advantage in serving our diverse patient base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Optometry or higher.
• Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for Optometrist.
• At least 5 years of related work experience.
• Able to work independently and efficiently with a team of nurses and allied health staff.
• Mandarin language skills are an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operations of the Eye Unit on a daily basis.
• Perform routine eye examinations including Visual Acuity, Tonometry, Refraction, Cycloplegic Refraction and Binocular Vision Assessments.
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as Humphrey Visual Field, OCT, Fundus Photography, FA, AB Scan and IOL Biometry.
• Assess patient visual alertness, field of vision and hand-eye coordination.
• Diagnose sight problems and prescribe corrective lenses.
• Maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
• Promote eye health by educating patients on eye care techniques.

Perform routine eye examinations such as checking Visual Acuity, Tonometry, Refraction, Cycloplegic Refraction and Binocular Vision Assessments.

To perform diagnostic instruments tests, the Humphrey Visual Field, Optical Coherence Tomography, Fundus Photography, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography, AB Scan for the Eye and IOL Biometry.

Identify patient's visual alertness, field of vision and hand-eye coordination.

Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness and color blindness.

Prescribe corrective lenses.

Maintain accurate medical files for all patients.

Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care techniques.

Jesselton Medical Centre is a new private medical centre located at Metro Town, Kota Kinabalu. It is a 8 storey building with 72 bedded ward, 23 Consultant rooms, 3 levels car parks and euipped with a Wellnes centre, full Diagnostic centre, a radiology department with MRI 1.5 tesla, 640 slide MSCT, fluoroscopy, standard x-ray, mammography, bone densitometry and ultrasound scan. A Physiotherapy centre, 24 hours Emergency & Trauma Department, Pathology testing laboratory, Haemodialysis centre, 3 Endoscopic Rooms, 3 Operating Theatres, 6 ICU beds and 7 Labour & Delivery Suites.
