Job summary

TotalEnergies EP Malaysia is seeking an experienced HSE professional to drive safety across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with policies and contractor management. You will conduct audits, incident investigations, and promote a safety culture in collaboration with operations teams.

Requirements include Level 6 or Bachelor's, offshore safety certifications, and 5+ years in oil & gas or similar environments. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local regulations is a plus.

Job description

• Ensures proper implementation of the Company HSE Policies.
• Ensures contractors’ compliance with the HSE clauses from relevant contracts within Operations Division and within activities on all the sites.
• Investigates and analyses all incidents and accidents, prepares cause tree analysis, compiles reports. Follows up on corrective actions to ensure completion and compliance.
• Promotes safe and responsible work culture with the Company and contractor personnel.
• Reviews contractors’ HSE Management Systems (MS), identifies gaps that require bridging with the Company’s HSE systems, prepares, issues and updates the bridging documents.
• Conducts regular audits of contractors’ facilities in cooperation with ad-hop operations’ specialists.
• Schedules the training sessions for the operations’ personnel.
• Maintains all HSE records, statistics and KPIs to ensure accurate reporting: recording of all incidents, accidents, safety observations, using the Company’s systems and databases (Synergi).
• Ensure that contractor’s anomaly reporting system is in place on site and that cards are reported and analysed for trends and subsequent actions identified.
• Prepares operations’ monthly HSE reports and any other ad-hoc reports as requested.
• Supports all Company Safety Initiatives and organizes HSE campaigns for contractors.
• Organizes and chairs special HSE events: departmental HSE committees, HSE Forums, etc.
• Supports HQ audits as required, provides information, organizes HSE reviews for operations division.
• Qualification level required for the position: Level 6 = Bachelor’s or equivalent level
• Technical skills required for the position:
  • Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, standards, and regulatory requirements in upstream oil & gas operations.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation methodologies, including root cause and cause tree analysis.
  • Experience in contractor HSE management, compliance verification, and bridging of contractor and company systems.
  • Ability to conduct HSE audits, safety tours, and operational reviews across multiple sites and entities.
  • Competence in risk identification, hazard assessment, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience in HSE reporting systems, KPI monitoring, and analysis of safety data and trends.
  • Good understanding of E&P operational activities and cross-functional interfaces (operations, drilling, projects, logistics).
  • Familiarity with HSE databases and incident reporting systems.

• Language skills required for the position:
  • English (C1–C2): Required — advanced proficiency for writing and communication.
  • Bahasa Malaysia (B2 C1): Recommended — professional proficiency for regulatory and authority engagement.
  • French (B2–C1): Advantageous — supports interaction with TotalEnergies’ headquarters and global networks
• Certification required for the position:
  • Valid offshore medical certification.
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) or equivalent.
  • Additional professional HSE certifications would be considered an advantage.
• Specific knowledge required for the position:
  • Good knowledge of HSE standards, policies, and practices in upstream oil & gas operations.
  • Understanding of E&P business activities and operational interfaces (Field Operations, Drilling, Projects, Logistics).
  • Knowledge of incident investigation processes and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with contractor HSE management and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry safety practices.
  • Knowledge of HSE reporting, KPIs, and data monitoring systems.
• Level of experience required for the position:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical or HSE-related roles within oil & gas or similar industrial environments.
  • Experience in upstream E&P operations and working across multiple operational entities.
  • Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Experience in contractor HSE management, compliance monitoring, and audit processes.
  • Exposure to offshore operations and multi-stakeholder environments, including contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Experience working in a transversal role supporting operations without direct line authority.
