Job summary

IBRACO BERHAD in Kuching is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to develop and monitor OHSE policies across multiple sites. You will ensure compliance with OSHA, DOSH, BOMBA, and ISO standards, and liaise with authorities as needed.

The role covers audits, risk assessments, training, accident investigations, and emergency planning, with a focus on building a strong safety culture and rigorous record-keeping. Preference for candidates with Green Book DOSH and construction experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold Green Book DOSH certification and be certified to work in high-risk environments.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in construction settings.
• Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.
• Familiarity with local safety laws and regulatory reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement OHSE policies across sites and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Perform regular site audits, hazard identification, and risk assessments (HIRARC).
• Inspect machinery, equipment, processes, and labor to identify hazards and prevent injuries.
• Organize, develop, and conduct safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
• Investigate accidents, near-misses, and occupational diseases to determine root causes.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including drills and equipment checks.
• Attend emergencies as needed and liaise with authorities as the company representative.
• Prepare meeting minutes and OSH reports for management and external auditors.
• Maintain safety metrics and detailed records for internal and external review.
• Collaborate with management to improve safety practices and reduce hazards.
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage reporting of concerns.
