Job summary

KCJ ENGINEERING SDN. BHD. is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to monitor and enforce safety on project sites in Malaysia. The role ensures compliance with OSHA 1994 and DOSH/JKKP, conducts inspections, prepares HIRARC, and leads toolbox talks to raise safety awareness.

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma/Degree in OSH or related field, be a registered SHO, and bring at least 3 years' experience in construction or engineering projects, with strong communication and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or a related field.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health, preferably in construction or engineering projects.
• Good knowledge of OSHA 1994, DOSH/JKKP requirements and applicable safety regulations.
• Experienced in HIRARC, safety inspections, audits, accident investigation and safety documentation.
• Good understanding of construction and engineering site safety practices.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Firm, responsible and able to enforce safety procedures effectively.
• Able to work independently and coordinate with project teams, contractors and subcontractors.
• Good report writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance with occupational safety and health requirements at project sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions and potential risks.
• Ensure site activities comply with OSHA 1994, DOSH/JKKP requirements and company safety procedures.
• Prepare and maintain safety and health documentation, including HIRARC, inspection reports, permits and safety records.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and site procedures.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings and safety awareness programmes for workers.
• Investigate accidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences and prepare the necessary reports.
• Monitor the proper use of PPE and ensure workers comply with safety requirements.
• Advise project management and site teams on risk control measures and workplace safety requirements.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and conduct emergency drills when required.
• Monitor corrective and preventive actions for safety non-compliances and ensure timely closure.
• Prepare regular safety and health reports for management and relevant project stakeholders.
• Liaise with DOSH/JKKP, contractors, consultants and other relevant parties on safety and health matters.
• Perform other safety and health duties assigned by management.
