Job summary

SeaOwl Malaysia is seeking an Offshore Inspection Engineer to develop and execute inspection plans for asset integrity, conduct visual inspections and NDT activities, and ensure compliance with API/ASME/ISO standards. You will liaise with maintenance and integrity teams, prepare clear inspection reports, and provide repair recommendations.

A Bachelor’s in mechanical, structural, or marine engineering and 5–10 years offshore inspection experience are required, with ISO 9712/PCN/ASNT Level II or

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, marine, or related engineering field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in offshore inspection engineering.
  • NDT/inspection certification (ISO 9712/PCN/ASNT Level II or above) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute offshore inspection plans and schedules per asset integrity programme and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and/or supervise visual inspections and NDT activities (UT, MPI, PT, RT) on structures, pipework, and pipelines.
  • Ensure inspection scopes align with quality requirements, project specs, and procedures.
  • Analyse inspection findings and assess integrity against codes and standards.
  • Prepare clear inspection reports detailing methods, results, and any anomalies.
  • Issue repair/remediation recommendations and verify repairs where required.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, client, and international standards (API, ASME, ISO).
  • Maintain accurate inspection records in the integrity management database.
  • Carry out inspection activities in line with HSE and Quality systems.
  • Liaise with maintenance, operations, and integrity engineering teams to prioritise and coordinate findings.

Key responsibilities

Develop and execute offshore inspection plans and schedules in line with the asset integrity management programme and regulatory requirements.

Conduct and/or supervise visual inspections and NDT activities (e.g. UT, MPI, PT, RT) on structures, pipework, pressure equipment, and pipelines.

Ensure inspection scopes are fully aligned with company quality requirements, project specifications, and applicable inspection procedures.

Analyse inspection findings and assess structural/equipment integrity against relevant codes and standards.

Prepare clear, concise inspection reports detailing methods used, results, and any anomalies or limitations identified.

Issue repair/remediation recommendations based on inspection findings, and verify completed repairs where required.

Ensure inspection activities comply with statutory, client, and international standards (e.g. API, ASME).

Maintain accurate inspection records, certificates, and documentation in the relevant integrity management database.

Carry out all inspection activities in accordance with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems.

Liaise with maintenance, operations, and integrity engineering teams to prioritise and coordinate inspection findings and follow-up actions.

About you

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Structural, Marine, or a related Engineering discipline.

5–10 years of experience in inspection engineering, ideally within offshore oil & gas operations.

Relevant NDT/inspection certification (e.g. ISO 9712 / PCN / ASNT Level II or above in UT, MPI, PT, or RT) preferred.

Strong knowledge of inspection codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO) and asset integrity management principles.

Valid offshore certifications (medical fitness certificate, safety passport/BOSIET, or equivalent) required for offshore deployment.
