Job summary

GAMUDA is seeking a Safety & Health Officer to implement and maintain safety and health programs across sites in Penang. You will conduct inspections, investigate incidents, train staff, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, working closely with multiple departments to prevent workplace hazards.

You will coordinate with contractors, support audits, advise on safety actions, and promote a culture of safety through ongoing outreach and training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, or related field.
• Must be certified as SHO by DOSH with a valid Green Book.
• Certifications such as CSP or OHST are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor safety and health management and ensure compliance with legal and TC SHE requirements.
• Conduct routine site inspections to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions.
• Advise TC on internal and external audits as required.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of Site Safety Supervisors.
• Collaborate with PMD team and contractor to perform HIAROC.
• Review HIAROC & JSA according to method statements.
• Involve in contractor incident management and reporting.
• Maintain accurate HSE data, incident records and compliance (NOI, NOP, etc).
• Assist in developing and delivering HSE training programs for TC and contractors.
• Participate in HSE campaigns to promote safety culture among employees.
• Liaise with external authorities such as CIDB, DOSH and local authorities.
• Act as TC primary contact during safety inspections and audits by authorities.
• Coordinate with Environmental team for on-site environmental compliance.
• Interface and coordinate among contractors in site safety compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Comply with Quality, Safety & Health and Environment requirements of the job scope.

• 16. To comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety & Health and Environment related to the job scope and work place as required by the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.

• Must be certified as SHO by DOSH with valid Green Book.

• Relevant safety certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), are preferred.
