Job summary

UMW Equipment Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a senior operations leader to provide night shift leadership and oversee factory performance.

You will ensure safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets are met, acting as Management Representative and the highest on-site authority during night shifts. You will monitor production, resolve bottlenecks, coordinate with Heads of Departments, manage manpower allocation, and ensure smooth shift handovers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10-15 years of manufacturing experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, machining, or precision manufacturing is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide night shift leadership and operational control to meet safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets.
• Act as Management Representative and on-site authority on night shifts.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks and coordinate with department heads on urgent issues.
• Oversee manpower allocation and shift handovers; monitor shop-floor performance.
• Coordinate equipment breakdown responses to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with standards.

Job description

To provide overall leadership, operational control, and management oversight of factory operations during the night shift, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are achieved

Act as Management Representative

Serve as the highest authority on-site during night shift operations.

Exercise decision-making authority regarding emergency situations, employee movement, and permissions when required.

Oversee Production Performance

Monitor production activities and ensure achievement of daily production targets.

Identify, address, and resolve production bottlenecks and operational issues promptly.

Communicate directly with Heads of Department (HODs) and key stakeholders on urgent operational matters.

Coordinate responses to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.

Conduct regular shop floor inspections to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.

Serve as the focal point for all night shift operational issues and ensure effective shift handover to the next team.

Manage and optimize manpower allocation according to production requirements.

Working Conditions

Required to work according to a shift-pattern schedule, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required.

Academic Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.

Minimum 10- 15 years of manufacturing experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Experience in aerospace, automotive, machining, or precision manufacturing is an advantage.
