Job summary

JOS Malaysia, a leading IT solutions provider in Malaysia, is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team. You will design, implement, and manage network infrastructures for client environments, with emphasis on routing, switching, and security.

Role includes server-related tasks such as patching, audits, and vendor management, with ~70% network focus and ~30% systems work. Collaboration with client IT teams is essential to ensure high availability.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2–4 years in network support or engineer role with Windows Server exposure.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Fortinet or similar enterprise devices.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, topologies, and security best practices.
• Experience with firewall configuration, VPN setup, VLAN segmentation.
• Familiar with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Zabbix).
• Working knowledge of system auditing, server patching, and vendor management.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Server+ are an advantage.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a client-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy LAN, WAN, and wireless networks for clients.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and outages to minimize downtime.
• Manage routing/switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP).
• Monitor network health and uptime with tools like PRTG or SolarWinds.
• Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and access control systems.
• Oversee IP address allocation, subnetting, DHCP/DNS services.
• Maintain firewall rules and security aligned with client requirements.
• Plan and implement network upgrades, migrations, and optimizations.
• Provide L2/L3 support for network incidents and requests.
• Collaborate with vendors/ISPs for service requests and escalations.
• Ensure compliance with client and industry security standards.
