Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2–4 years in network support or engineer role with Windows Server exposure.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Fortinet or similar enterprise devices.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, topologies, and security best practices.
• Experience with firewall configuration, VPN setup, VLAN segmentation.
• Familiar with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Zabbix).
• Working knowledge of system auditing, server patching, and vendor management.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Server+ are an advantage.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy LAN, WAN, and wireless networks for clients.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and outages to minimize downtime.
• Manage routing/switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP).
• Monitor network health and uptime with tools like PRTG or SolarWinds.
• Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and access control systems.
• Oversee IP address allocation, subnetting, DHCP/DNS services.
• Maintain firewall rules and security aligned with client requirements.
• Plan and implement network upgrades, migrations, and optimizations.
• Provide L2/L3 support for network incidents and requests.
• Collaborate with vendors/ISPs for service requests and escalations.

Job Summary

This role supports a client environment within the food and beverage manufacturing and distribution industry, including sites involved in alcoholic beverage production, and requires comfort working in such operational settings in compliance with client site policies and standards.

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network infrastructures for client environments, with an additional focus on systems administration tasks including server patching, system audits, and vendor management. The workload distribution is approximately 70% network‑related responsibilities and 30% server/systems‑related responsibilities.

The role requires strong technical expertise in routing, switching, firewall, and security management, alongside foundational knowledge of Windows Server environments and system administration best practices. The candidate will be involved in both project deployments and day‑to‑day support, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of network and server systems.

Key Responsibilities

Network (Primary Focus – ~70%)

• Design, configure, and deploy LAN, WAN, and wireless network solutions for client environments.

• Perform network troubleshooting to resolve performance issues, outages, and ensure minimal downtime.

• Implement and manage routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP).

• Monitor network health, bandwidth utilization, and uptime using tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, etc.

• Configure and maintain network security devices including firewalls, VPNs, and access control systems.

• Manage IP address allocation, subnetting, and DHCP/DNS services.

• Monitor and manage network open ports, implementing and maintaining firewall configurations based on client requirements and industry best practices.

• Assist in the planning and implementation of network upgrades, migrations, and optimization projects.

• Provide L2/L3 support for network‑related incidents and service requests.

• Work with vendors and ISPs on network‑related services, escalations, and maintenance windows.

• Ensure all network solutions comply with client and industry security standards.

Systems Administration (Secondary Focus – ~30%)

• System Audits: Conduct regular audits of client systems to assess security, performance, and compliance with industry standards. Provide detailed reports and recommendations for improvements based on audit findings.

• Server Patching: Develop and implement server patching strategies for client environments to enhance system performance and security. Coordinate with client IT teams to ensure timely and coordinated patch deployments.

• Server Administration: Support server implementations and infrastructure architecture. Assist in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.

• Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and services on behalf of client companies. Ensure service level agreements are met, and continuously assess vendor performance.

• System Support: Provide support for system‑related issues, troubleshooting, and incident resolution. Collaborate with client IT teams to implement system upgrades and enhancements.

General Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate documentation for all network configurations, system configurations, changes, and security measures.

• Generate regular reports on system performance, audit results, and vendor management for client review.

• Collaborate effectively with client IT teams to understand business requirements and align technical solutions accordingly.

• Communicate clearly and proactively with clients on technical issues and initiatives.
