Job summary

Flintex Consulting Pte Ltd in Malaysia is seeking an experienced tooling design engineer to develop injection molds for high‑volume production. You will define gating, cooling, and materials, review mold flow data, and ensure targets are met.

The role involves supporting mold trials, NPI efforts, and collaborating with toolmakers while mentoring junior engineers to drive best practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in tooling design and manufacturing.
• Strong experience in injection molding and high-volume production.
• Familiar with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with Moldflow / Moldex3D.
• Skilled in CAD software: Creo, NX, SolidWorks.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Tooling Design & Development
   • Design and develop injection molds (multi-cavity, hot runner, 3-plate molds)
   • Define gating, cooling, venting, and material selection
   • Review mold flow analysis and improve tooling performance
   • Ensure tooling meets production capacity and cycle time targets
2. Tooling Validation & Testing
   • Support mold trials (T0, T1, T2)
   • Perform FAI, PPAP, Cp/Cpk, and DOE activities
   • Troubleshoot tooling issues such as flash, short shot, warpage, and sink marks
3. Manufacturing Support
   • Provide hands‑on support to solve production issues
   • Improve cycle time, yield, and mold performance
   • Conduct root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)
4. Supplier Management
   • Work with toolmakers and suppliers to review designs and fabrication
   • Ensure tooling quality, cost, and delivery targets are met
5. New Product Introduction (NPI)
   • Support new tooling development for new products
   • Ensure smooth production ramp-up and tool transfer
6. Team Support
   • Guide and mentor junior engineers
   • Drive continuous improvement and best practices

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, or related field
• Minimum 3 years in tooling design and manufacturing

• Knowledge in mold design (hot runner, cooling, gating, etc.)
• Familiar with GD&T and tolerance analysis
