Job summary

Menicon Malaysia is seeking an experienced Injection Moulding Engineer to lead mould setup, validation and maintenance activities in Kulim, Malaysia. You will drive process capability studies, IQ/OQ/PQ, and support production with technical guidance.

The role requires hands-on experience with injection moulding, knowledge of Minitab and AutoCAD, and strong communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Cleanroom experience is a plus, with GMP and 5S adherence.

Qualifications

• Requires hands-on experience with injection molding environments.
• Proficiency with Minitab for analysis and AutoCAD for tooling design.
• English and Bahasa Malaysia language skills are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Set up and validate new moulds, materials, and injection moulding processes, including IQ/OQ/PQ, process capability studies, and validation.
• Coordinate transfer of mould inspection and mould transfer, ensuring production teams are supported.
• Oversee maintenance of moulds and specify repairs or modifications with proper documentation.
• Troubleshoot moulding defects (flash, short shot, sink marks, warpage, burn marks, weld lines, bubbles, dimensional variations).
• Plan preventive maintenance for injection moulding machines, moulds, hot runner systems and auxiliary equipment; collaborate with mould makers for repairs.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, procedures, control plans, risk analysis, troubleshooting SOPs and guidelines per ISO13485.
• Provide training to technicians on machine monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement projects.
• Ensure machine uptime and readiness for production.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and monthly purchase planning.
• Contribute to cost reduction, OEE improvement, second source qualification and yield improvement.
• Ensure 5S, GMP and safety & health compliance.

Job Responsibilities

• Set up and validate new moulds, materials, and injection moulding processes, including IQ/OQ/PQ, process capability studies, and validation.
• Accountable, lead and follow-up transfer of the mould inspection, mould transfer, ensuring the related information was provided and supporting the production team.
• Coordinate maintenance of moulds; specify repair or alteration of moulds and automation while ensuring adequate documentation is maintained.
• Troubleshoot moulding defects such as flash, short shot, sink marks, warpage, burn marks, weld lines, bubbles, and dimensional variations using scientific moulding principles.
• Plan and executive preventive maintenance activities for injection moulding machines, moulds, hot runner systems and auxiliary equipment. Work closely with mould makers for repairs and modification.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, procedure, control plan, risk analysis, troubleshooting SOP and guideline accordingly to ISO13485 standard.
• Provide guidance, training and coaching to technicians on machine monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement projects.
• Responsible for machine up time and readiness for production.
• Ensure adequate spare part inventory to support production and prepare monthly spare part purchase plan.
• Involved in engineering projects such as cost reduction, OEE improvement, second source qualification and yield improvement.
• Ensure 5S, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety & health protocols compliances.

Qualifications

• Education Level: Degree in Engineering or Diploma holder with minimum 5 years working experience. Preferably Plastics Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
• Year of Experience: Preferable min 2-3 years related experience in injection molding environment. Experience working in cleanroom environment will be added advantage.
• Capability: Demonstrates hands‑on experience machining machine, injection moulding and tooling management.
• Skills: Knowledge in analytical software Minitab & design software AutoCAD.
• Language: English & Bahasa Malaysia are must, Japanese and others will be added advantage.
