Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Mobile Engineer to contribute across the mobile development lifecycle. You will design, implement, test and release mobile features for iOS and Android, using Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose, with Kotlin Multiplatform for shared logic.

You will collaborate with design and backend teams to deliver robust, scalable apps and participate in code reviews and planning. Jointly with backend squads, you will ensure performance, accessibility and maintainability while

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building native mobile applications.
• Proficient in either Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with mobile architecture patterns and testing.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain iOS and Android app features using Swift and SwiftUI for iOS, and Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android.
• Develop shared business logic and reusable modules using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
• Create reusable, modular and maintainable mobile components.
• Integrate apps with backend services, authentication, analytics, notifications and remote configuration.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture and mobile engineering standards.
• Improve app performance, accessibility, reliability, maintainability and testability.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, snapshot and UI tests.
• Investigate crashes, performance issues, memory problems and production defects.
• Take part in code reviews, sprint planning, technical discussions, demos and retrospectives.
• Contribute to engineering documentation, development guidelines and reusable technical patterns.

As a Mobile Engineer, you’ll contribute throughout the mobile development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to testing, release and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building native mobile applications
• Strong knowledge of either Swift and SwiftUI for iOS development, or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android development.
• Experience with structured concurrency, asynchronous programming and application lifecycle management.
• Experience with mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM, unidirectional data flow or modular architecture.
• Experience integrating REST APIs, authentication, analytics, notifications and remote services.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, continuous integration and CI/CD.
• Experience with Git, pull requests and code reviews.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex app, performance and production issues.
• Experience using GitHub for source control, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD workflows and GitHub Issues for task management
• Comfortable working with Figma to understand designs, collaborate with designers and deliver accurate user interfaces.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
