Job summary

Cognizant in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Mobile Engineer to contribute across the mobile development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and release.

You will build native apps using Swift/SwiftUI for iOS or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose for Android, work with Kotlin Multiplatform, contribute to architecture, optimize performance and ensure quality with tests.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building native mobile applications.
• Proficiency in Swift/SwiftUI for iOS or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose for Android.
• Experience with architecture patterns (MVVM, unidirectional data flow or modular) and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain iOS and Android app features using Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose.
• Create reusable, modular mobile components.
• Integrate apps with backend services, analytics, authentication, notifications and remote config.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture and mobile engineering standards.
• Improve app performance, accessibility, reliability, maintainability and testability.
• Develop unit, integration, snapshot and UI tests.
• Investigate crashes, performance and memory issues in production.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning and technical discussions.

Job description

As a Mobile Engineer, you’ll contribute throughout the mobile development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to testing, release and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain iOS and Android app features using Swift and SwiftUI for iOS, and Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android. Develop shared business logic and reusable modules using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
• Create reusable, modular and maintainable mobile components.
• Integrate apps with backend services, connected appliances, authentication, analytics, notifications and remote configuration.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture and mobile engineering standards.
• Improve app performance, accessibility, reliability, maintainability and testability.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, snapshot and UI tests.
• Investigate crashes, performance issues, memory problems and production defects.
• Take part in code reviews, sprint planning, technical discussions, demos and retrospectives.
• Contribute to engineering documentation, development guidelines and reusable technical patterns.
• Improve engineering efficiency through automation and better tooling.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building native mobile applications
• Strong knowledge of either Swift and SwiftUI for iOS development, or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android development.
• Experience with structured concurrency, asynchronous programming and application lifecycle management.
• Experience with mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM, unidirectional data flow or modular architecture.
• Experience integrating REST APIs, authentication, analytics, notifications and remote services.
