Lumileds Malaysia is seeking a Mid Level Lead/R&D Product Characterization Engineer to generate advanced product characterization reports and lead cross-functional investigations for LED product performance. The role focuses on data analysis, problem solving, and ensuring product performance aligns with datasheet specifications.

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc or equivalent in relevant fields of engineering or applied science with 3-6 years of related work experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with management, engineering and project teams and lead to root cause findings.
• Proactive with clear summaries of findings and deep-dive analysis.
• Hands-on knowledge of structured improvement techniques and tools such as Statistical Engineering, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, Minitab and JMP, DOE, 7QC, SPST, FMEA and others.
• Passion for work and willingness to stretch to meet business goals.

Responsibilities

• Generates in-depth and advanced Product Characterization reports with thorough analysis to support project decisions.
• Proactively participate in problem solving of product performance issues.
• Ensure characterization reports cover product development, manufacturing concerns, performance, yield and utilization at milestone stages.
• Ensure product performance matches datasheet specifications and communicate performance summaries with proposals.
• Engage project teams early in development and follow up until mass production release.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams to secure information crucial to product performance analysis (traceability, material/process/tool variability).

Who You Are:

We are looking for someone with strong technical background with experience in data analysis or statistical tool, optical knowledge with good problem-solving and skill that able to drive cross function teams for deep dive investigation. Those with knowledge and experience in Product Engineering, Product Characterization and Test Process/methodology in a LED semiconductor industry will have an added advantage.

Position Summary:

Generates in depth and advance Product Characterization reports that contain thorough analysis of the new product performances which will help project teams make sound decisions, taking into account the technical risks involved. Proactively participate problem solving of product performance related issues.

What You Will Do:

Generates in depth and advance Product Characterization reports that contain thorough analysis which will help project teams make sound decisions, taking into account the technical risks involved.

Proactively participate problem solving of product performance related issues.

Ensures Product Characterization analysis report at the various Milestone stages cover the various aspects of the Product Development and Manufacturing concerns including product performance, yield and utilization.

Ensures product performance matches product datasheet specifications/must-wants at every stage of the product creation process. Able to communicate clearly to project team on the summary of product performance with proposal on product performance spec.

Engage project team from early stage of product development and closely follow up until product released for mass production.

Liaise with cross functional team ensuring the availability of information that crucial to product performance analysis, such as traceability of parts, variability in material/process/tool, etc.

What You Will Bring (REQUIRED Qualifications):

BSc/MSc or equivalent in relevant fields of engineering or applied science with 3-6 years of related work experience.

Strong interpersonal skills. Able to communicate clearly with the Management team, Engineering and Project team he/she is involved with and lead team into root cause findings.

Proactive and able to communicate with clear summary of findings, alongside with deep dive analysis skillset.

Experienced and hands on knowledge with structured improvement techniques and associated tools such as Statistical Engineering, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified, Minitab and/or JMP, Design Expert, DOE, 7QC, SPST (Structured Problem Solving Tools), FMEA, DRBFM and others.

Passion for Work – possesses positive and open work attitude, willing to stretch to meet Business Goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-4 years of in-depth (direct or indirect) experience in (LED) Product Characterization, Process Characterization, Test measurement/methodology and/or Failure Analysis.

Combination of experience in any of the 2 functions; Product, Test, Characterization, Process or Failure Analysis.
