Job summary

Razer Inc. in Malaysia seeks a Merchant Risk Analyst & Underwriting Specialist to assess merchant applications, perform risk reviews, and ensure compliance with payment networks.

You will monitor merchant accounts, adjust limits, and collaborate with sales, operations and risk teams to drive safer, more efficient underwriting practices.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in underwriting or fraud prevention, and knowledge of KYC/KYB/AML and major card networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
• 1–3 years in merchant underwriting, risk assessment, or fraud prevention.
• Knowledge of KYC, KYB, AML and fraud risk management frameworks.
• Familiarity with Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay payment schemes and compliance regulations.
• Experience with risk management tools, payment processing platforms, and CRM systems.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to perform shift duties and take on tasks as required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate merchant applications and conduct risk assessments for account approval.
• Analyze transaction data and financial statements to assess merchant risk profiles.
• Ensure compliance with payment network rules and internal policies.
• Monitor merchant accounts and adjust limits or close accounts as needed.
• Perform ODD and periodic reviews of existing merchants.
• Communicate insights to sales, operations, and risk teams.
• Maintain records of underwriting decisions and monitoring activities.
• Identify process improvements in merchant risk management practices.
• Contribute to underwriting policy, workflows, and documentation.
• Perform shift duties and other tasks as required.
