Job summary

Razer is seeking a Merchant Risk and Underwriting Specialist to assess and manage risks for merchant accounts. You will underwrite new applications, conduct risk assessments, and implement strategies to mitigate fraud and losses.

Strong analytical skills and knowledge of payment processing regulations are essential. The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, with shift duties as required in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in merchant underwriting, risk assessment or fraud prevention (eCommerce payments a plus).
• Strong understanding of KYC, KYB, AML and fraud risk management frameworks.
• Familiarity with payment schemes (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay) and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate merchant applications and conduct risk assessments to determine account approval eligibility.
• Analyze transaction data, financial statements, and other sources to assess merchant risk profiles and red flags.
• Ensure compliance with payment network rules and internal policies for merchant account management.
• Monitor merchant accounts, adjust limits, and close accounts as needed.
• Perform ODD and periodic reviews to detect suspicious activity.
• Communicate with sales, operations and risk teams to provide insights on risk strategies.
• Maintain records of underwriting decisions and monitoring activities.
• Identify process improvements to merchant risk management practices.
