The Medical Travel Manager will be responsible for overseeing, developing, and executing the company's medical tourism and international patient programs in Asia. This role combines strategic business development, partnership management (with hospitals, insurers, and travel agencies), and the end-to-end operational management of international patients seeking healthcare services in Asia.
Lead and manage the international patient concierge team to ensure a seamless, world-class experience from pre-arrival to post-treatment.
Oversee the end-to-end logistics for medical travelers, including medical visa assistance, airport transfers, accommodation, translation services, and local travel logistics.
Coordinate closely with clinical teams, hospital partners, and physicians to facilitate medical second opinions, cost estimations, and treatment scheduling.
Act as the primary escalation point for any patient grievances, logistical bottlenecks, or emergencies.
Identify, build, and maintain strategic alliances with international insurance providers, healthcare facilitators, corporate clients, and foreign embassies.
Collaborate with government bodies to leverage national medical tourism initiatives.
Develop and implement marketing strategies (B2B and B2C) to promote Asia as a premier medical travel destination for target markets (e.g., Indonesia, China, Middle East, Indochina).
Ensure all medical travel processes comply with healthcare regulations (Ministry of Health Malaysia), personal data protection laws (PDPA), and international healthcare standards.
Manage the budget for the Medical Travel department, ensuring cost-efficiency while maintaining high-quality service.
Oversee financial transactions, billing transparency, and international insurance claims processing for patients.
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospitality/Tourism Management, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Medical Tourism, Healthcare, or Premium Hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Deep understanding of the Malaysian healthcare ecosystem, private hospital networks, and MHTC frameworks is a strong advantage.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Ability to speak Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese, or Bahasa Indonesia is highly preferred to communicate with regional patient markets.
Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional empathy, cultural sensitivity, and relationship-building skills to handle diverse international patients and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Strong crisis management and problem-solving skills under pressure.
Tech-Savviness: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), and Microsoft Office.
