Job summary

Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Malacca is seeking a Mechanical Senior Engineer to join a team of engineers to deliver new technologies to customers by developing high-quality features.

The role involves developing concepts and designs, maintaining tooling rules, ensuring accurate canvases and datasheets, leading design rule templates, proposing improvements, and collaborating with suppliers and customers to resolve critical design requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• At least 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DOE and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts and designs according to project specifications and timelines.
• Maintain and improve tooling rules and templates to increase efficiency and quality.
• Ensure accuracy of canvases and release technical datasheets.
• Develop design rule templates and ensure clarity for all users.
• Propose improvements to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and cost of parts.
• Work with customers to solve critical design requirements.
• Investigate equipment failures and diagnose faulty operation; provide recommendations.
• Transfer technical documentation to the Application Engineering team.
• Participate in brainstorming, design reviews, and DFMEA sessions.
• Conduct experiments to test and analyze existing designs and obtain performance data.

As a Mechanical Senior Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers to deliver new technologies to customers by developing high-quality features.

You will play an important role in:

• To develop concepts and designs according to the specifications within the project timeline.
• To maintain and develop the tooling rules and templates to increase the efficiency and quality of the designs.
• To ensure accuracy of the information on the canvase.
• To release technical datasheets of the module with accurate information.
• To develop the application team in design rules and templates, ensure that it’s understandable and accurate.
• To propose improvements and optimizations that will improve quality and cost-effective solutions.
• To work with suppliers in improving quality delivery and cost of parts.
• To work with customers in solving critical design requirements.
• Investigating equipment failures and difficulties, diagnoses faulty operation, and makes recommendations.
• To ensure proper technical document transfer to Application Engineering team.
• To participate in brainstorming, design review & DFMEA sessions.
• To conduct experiments to test and analyze existing designs and equipment to obtain data on performance of product and prepare
• Any task that may be assigned from time to time.

To be successful in this role, you need to have:

• Education: Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
• Work Experience: 2+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering or industry related.
• oCAD Software (SolidWorks preferred)
• oMicrosoft Applications
• Ability to communicate in English with co-worker and customers via emails and phone.
• Experience in mechanical calculations and applied physics.
• Advanced knowledge on different machining process, fabrication materials and treatements selections and standard electro-mechanical parts.
• Understanding of DFMEA, DOE, and risk assessment.
• Ability to adapt on different environments and work based on priorities.
• Strong commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
