Job summary

Cohu Malaysia is seeking a Software Engineer / Senior Engineer to join a team delivering high-quality software features for our handler software releases. You will participate in the SDLC from planning to testing and collaborate with hardware teams to ensure system compatibility.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant bachelor's degree and have strong C/C++ programming skills. Travel up to 10% is expected, with opportunities for growth and exposure to cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology, engineering or equivalent.
• Strong background in software programming (C, C++), OOP and non-OOP.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to different environments and priorities.
• Experience in Semiconductor industry is an advantage.
• Familiar with hardware-related development (motors, sensors, actuators).
• Commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
• Ethics, diplomacy, patience and good listening skills.
• Problem solving: sharp, creative and innovative.
• Travel flexibility up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Execute software development life cycles including planning, analysis, design, implementation and testing.
• Review requirements and write software requirement specification documents.
• Prepare and execute unit tests for features and bug fixes.
• Generate equipment software and ensure stability to customer specs.
• Collaborate with hardware/other engineering teams on interfaces and performance.
• Provide training to other software team members.
• Handle ad-hoc tasks within main objectives.

As a Software Engineer / Senior Engineer, you will be working with a team of engineers to deliver new technologies to customer by develop high quality effective software features that will be included in handler software release.

You will play an important role in:

• Execute software development life cycles which includes planning, analysis, design, implementation and testing.
• Review product/feature requirements and write software requirement specification documents.
• Prepare and execute unit testcase for all features develop or bug fixes if necessary.
• Generate the equipment’s software and guarantee stability and compliance to customers’ specifications.
• Work closely with other engineering groups to evaluate the interface between hardware and software and the operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
• Provide training to other software team member for knowledge sharing.
• Any other ad-hoc assignments within the scope of main objectives.

To be successful in this role, you need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology, Engineering Computer/Telecommunication), Engineering (Electrical/Electronic), Engineering (Mechatronic/Electromechanical) or equivalent.
• Strong background in software programming (C, C++), OOP and non-OOP.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly convey technical information and ideas.
• Ability to adapt to different environments and work based on priorities
• Experience in Semiconductor industry is an advantage.
• Familiar with development involving hardware's such as motors, sensors or actuators is an advantage.
• Strong commitment to learning and continuous improvement, with continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong ethics, diplomatic, patience, good listening skills and can interact with a diverse group of individuals.
• Sharp problem-solving skills, creative, innovative, out of the box problem solving skills.
• Flexibility to travel if required (10%).
