A Mechanical Fitter is a tradesperson responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment in various industrial settings.
Determine specifications for components based on mechanical system drawings.
Measure and construct components from raw materials using cutting, shaping, and grinding techniques.
Assemble piping and fittings, demonstrating strong knowledge of steel work.
Integrate fabricated components into larger machines or systems.
Comply with operational and safety procedures.
Understand and interpret technical drawings.
Adhere to all on-site regulations.
Utilize hand tools effectively for steel work.
Take responsibility for tools, machines, and equipment related to welding tasks and report any malfunctions to a supervisor.
Ensure that all work is completed within the timeframes set by the supervisor.
Take necessary precautions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing any hot work tasks.
Measure and inspect cut parts using calipers, micrometers, and other tools.
Ensure accuracy, tolerances, and finish quality meet engineering specifications.
1–3 years of experience in mechanical fitting works.
