Job summary

SPCI HELM Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to monitor, maintain and optimise plant equipment, machinery and piping across multiple chemical processing units.

You will coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operations and drive equipment uptime. The role requires a degree in chemical or mechanical engineering and at least 3 years in manufacturing, with strong problem-solving, leadership and coordination skills to manage

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in the chemical-related industry.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of plant equipment, machinery, piping and maintenance.
• Leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels and exercise independent judgment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
• Ability to manage and work closely with consultants, contractors and vendors.
• Good understanding of maintenance planning, equipment reliability and HSE requirements.
• Detail-oriented with good organisational and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot plant equipment, machinery, piping and plant facilities across the Boilers, SSL, Aluminium Sulfate and Acid Dilution plants to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Carry out and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
• Identify mechanical issues, diagnose root causes and implement appropriate solutions to minimise equipment downtime and improve reliability.
• Assist in equipment reliability improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve machinery performance, maintenance processes and plant safety.
• Prepare and execute maintenance plans, ensuring that maintenance activities, timelines and required resources are properly planned and coordinated.
• Assist in modification, improvement and maintenance projects, including reviewing technical requirements, drawings, timelines and cost estimates to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget.
• Ensure mechanical equipment and maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations, company procedures, SOPs and HSE requirements.
• Work closely with plant personnel to ensure safety and quality control procedures are followed during maintenance and related activities.
• Manage and supervise consultants, contractors and vendors to ensure maintenance and project works are completed safely, efficiently, and according to the required standards and timelines.
• Monitor and manage mechanical spare parts to ensure adequate availability for maintenance and minimise operational downtime.
• Conduct regular inspections and check-ups of machinery, equipment and plant facilities to identify potential issues and ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Provide technical support and advice to plant personnel on mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and equipment-related matters.
• Maintain proper documentation and records of maintenance activities, equipment conditions, repairs and improvement works.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management.
