Malaysia Smelting Corporation Berhad is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support reliability, efficiency, and performance of smelter operations. You will inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment to ensure safe plant operations and support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
You will supervise mechanical technicians, coordinate with contractors, and assist during routine shutdowns while maintaining documentation and safety compliance.
Support the reliability, efficiency, and performance of mechanical systems and equipment within smelter operations. Perform inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment to ensure safe and reliable plant operations. Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, plant improvements, and routine shutdown works in accordance with operational, safety, and environmental requirements.
Perform inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, cranes, and furnaces
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance according to maintenance schedules and operational requirements
Monitor and guide mechanical technicians in daily execution of routine tasks, troubleshooting procedures, and adherence to safety guidelines
Assist in identifying the root causes of equipment failures and implementing corrective actions
Monitor equipment condition and recommend necessary repairs, replacements, or improvements
Coordinate assigned maintenance works with contractors and service providers
Support and execute mechanical maintenance activities during routine and scheduled shutdowns
Monitor critical spare parts stock levels, track availability and lead times, and coordinate material requirements with relevant departments
Maintain mechanical drawings, maintenance records, work completion logs, and other relevant technical documentation
Support audits and inspections relating to mechanical equipment, and provide technical support during breakdowns and unscheduled shutdowns
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a manufacturing, heavy industry, smelting or process plant environment
Good knowledge of mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance
Hands‑on experience with industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, cranes and furnaces will be an added advantage
Able to supervise and guide technicians and coordinate maintenance activities with contractors
Basic knowledge of equipment failure analysis, condition monitoring and mechanical drawings
Able to support plant shutdowns, breakdowns and emergency maintenance activities when required
Good understanding of workplace safety, health and environmental requirements
Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills
Willing to be based at Pulau Indah, Selangor.
