About Us

GV Engineering Works (M) Sdn Bhd is a mechanical engineering and fabrication company specialising in industrial fabrication, piping installation, plant maintenance, shutdown works and turnkey projects.

We are looking for a motivated and responsible Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a 2-year contract basis.

Fresh graduates and candidates with relevant working experience are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering, workshop and project teams to support project execution, site supervision, fabrication, installation and maintenance activities.

This position provides an opportunity to gain practical engineering experience, develop technical skills and participate in actual industrial projects.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will handle standard mechanical engineering tasks—ranging from design and analysis to project coordination and site support—while ensuring compliance with industry best practices and safety standards. Be prepared to travel and, where required, stay at project sites for short or extended periods to support project execution, supervise installation activities, attend site meetings, conduct inspections, and ensure work is completed according to project requirements.

Job Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination & Execution

Assist in coordinating and monitoring project activities from commencement until completion.

Coordinate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Monitor project progress, manpower, materials and equipment requirements.

Ensure project activities are completed according to schedule and client requirements.

Attend site meetings and assist in resolving project issues.

Provide regular project updates and progress reports to management.

2. Site Monitoring

Assist in monitoring daily site activities, including mechanical installation, piping works, steel fabrication and plant maintenance.

Monitor workers and subcontractors to ensure work is carried out according to project specifications and safety requirements.

Conduct site inspections and monitor work progress.

Coordinate with site personnel to resolve technical and operational issues.

Ensure proper utilisation of manpower, materials, tools and equipment.

Travel to project sites and occasionally stay onsite when required.

Coordinate with the workshop and production team for fabrication, assembly and installation activities.

Monitor fabrication and installation work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.

Provide technical support during fabrication, installation and maintenance works.

Assist in troubleshooting mechanical problems and coordinating corrective actions.

Ensure proper handling and utilisation of materials, tools and equipment.

4. Plant Maintenance & Shutdown Works

Assist in coordinating plant maintenance, machinery servicing and industrial shutdown projects.

Monitor maintenance activities and ensure work is completed within the scheduled timeframe.

Coordinate manpower, materials and equipment requirements.

Support troubleshooting and technical problem-solving activities.

Ensure maintenance works comply with client requirements and safety procedures.

5. Project Documentation & Reporting

Prepare daily and weekly project progress reports.

Maintain site records, inspection reports and work completion documentation.

Monitor project activities and report delays or issues to management.

Assist in coordinating project documentation and ISO 9001 requirements.

Ensure proper communication between site, workshop and management teams.

6. Quality & Safety

Ensure work complies with company procedures, client specifications and safety requirements.

Monitor the quality of fabrication, installation and maintenance activities.

Ensure workers follow site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.

Assist in identifying quality issues and implementing corrective actions.

Support the company's quality management and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Minimum 2 years* of working experience in mechanical engineering, fabrication, construction, plant maintenance, or a related industry.

Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Candidates with relevant working experience in mechanical engineering, fabrication, installation, project execution or plant maintenance are also encouraged to apply.

Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and industrial operations.

Experience in preparing BQ, BOM, tender documents, and material estimation is an advantage.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Able to work in a team and coordinate with workers, clients and subcontractors.

Willing to learn, take initiative and work independently.

Willing to travel and occasionally stay at project sites as required.

Possess a valid Malaysian driving licence is an added advantage.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Able to communicate in Tamil, English and Bahasa Malaysia.
