Job summary

Aurora Talent in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to execute day-to-day engineering design calculations, drafting coordination, and documentation for building mechanical services (ACMV/HVAC, Fire Protection, and Plumbing).

You will perform heat load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection, prepare drawings in AutoCAD and Revit MEP, and coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEM registered).
• 5–10 years direct consultancy design experience in building services.
• Experience with ACMV/HVAC, mechanical wet services, and fire protection in data centres, high-rise developments, or healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed heat load calculations, ductwork sizing, pipe sizing, static pressure calculations, and equipment selection (AHUs, FCUs, pumps, chillers, fans).
• Prepare detailed schematic diagrams, layout drawings, tender drawings, and construction documentation using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Assist in drafting technical specifications, Bill of Quantities (BQ), and preliminary cost estimates.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, and electrical design teams to resolve spatial conflicts and perform M&E service coordination / interference checks.
• Conduct site inspections, review contractor shop drawings and material submittals, and assist in responding to RFIs (Request for Information).
• Support authority submission preparation for local municipal councils and utility bodies.

Job description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for executing day-to-day engineering design calculations, drafting coordination, and technical documentation for building mechanical services (ACMV/HVAC, Fire Protection, and Plumbing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed heat load calculations, ductwork sizing, pipe sizing, static pressure calculations, and equipment selection (AHUs, FCUs, pumps, chillers, fans).
• Prepare detailed schematic diagrams, layout drawings, tender drawings, and construction documentation using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Assist in drafting technical specifications, Bill of Quantities (BQ), and preliminary cost estimates.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, and electrical design teams to resolve spatial conflicts and perform M&E service coordination / interference checks.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEM registered).
• Experience: 5–10 years of direct engineering consultancy design experience in building services (M&E consultancy background required).
• Technical Scope: Proven hands‑on execution of ACMV/HVAC, mechanical wet services, and fire protection systems for Data Centre, mission critical, clean dry air environmrnt, commercial, institutional, healthcare, or high‑rise developments.
• Software: Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Carrier HAP/E20, and MS Office.
