Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a dedicated nurse leader to manage nursing care delivery, supervise shifts, and coordinate with physicians and the care team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

The role emphasizes adherence to care standards, documentation, patient and family communication, and active involvement in quality improvement initiatives within the ward and hospital.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to nursing care vision, mission, goals and objectives and perform shift duties as assigned by the Unit Manager.
• Notify the unit manager of any changes impacting care standards.
• Obtain and hand over patient progress reports and ensure doctor’s orders are followed.
• Visit patients with the team to assess conditions and re-plan nursing care.
• Provide newborn and infant care with accurate documentation and timely reporting of abnormal findings.
• Conduct nursing rounds, provide emotional support, assist in procedures as needed.
• Coordinate with team to execute doctor’s orders and maintain effective communication.
• Supervise labor progress and assist in interpretation of fetal monitoring and complications.
• Guide new mothers on self-care, newborn care, breastfeeding and postnatal home care education.
• Participate in unit meetings and hospital activities, and ensure clear, compassionate communication with patients and relatives.
• Collaborate with the unit manager on administration, bed management and resource allocation.
• Charge accurately for equipment and consumables and maintain supply integrity.
• Inspect supply of sterile packs and maintain stock from Central Sterile Supply services.
• Participate in safety and quality improvement activities and incident reporting, including infection control and fire safety programs.
