Henkel Malaysia is seeking a Senior Manager to lead a team of Material Planners, shaping mid‑ to long‑term planning and ensuring supply continuity across 0‑18 months. You’ll coach, develop, and align the team with S&OP and production priorities.

About this Position

Accountable for leading, coaching, and developing a team of Material Planners to ensure robust, accurate, and timely mid‑and short‑term material planning for the coming 0‑18 months. Responsible for creating team capability, optimizing planning performance, ensuring supply continuity, and aligning planning outcomes with S&OP, Supply Review, and business priorities.

What you’ll do
Leadership & People Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Material Planners, building capability in mid‑and short‑term material planning. Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s, and ensure effective performance management, coaching, and skills development.
  • Ensure adequate resource allocation, workflow prioritization, and resilience within the planning team.
  • Drive team engagement and foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Governance
  • Oversee development of feasible, optimized Material Plan.
  • Ensure application of Material Planning standards and correct modeling of supplier capacities.
  • Review and validate planning outputs, highlighting risks, opportunities, and scenario impacts to leadership and S&OP teams.
  • Secure alignment of material planning with production planning, inventory policy, and network constraints.
Issue Resolution & Escalation Management
  • Act as the point‑of‑escalation for supplier constraints impacting mid‑ or short‑term horizons.
  • Work with S&OP Manager, Production Schedulers, Material Planners, and Operations to resolve major constraints and propose options with quantified impact.
  • Ensure structured, timely communication to stakeholders and proactive risk mitigation.
Collaboration
  • Close collaboration with internal/external key interfaces, mainly via APS, judging and aligning priorities to meet customer expectations and needs versus supply chain capabilities; monitor and ensure delivery of other functions’ commitments.
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within planning, including workflow optimization and standardization, and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements. Define and execute projects; act as facilitator for roll out of identified regional best practices.
Performance Management
  • Monitor and prioritize own and team’s performance; allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure the required standards of productivity, timeliness, and quality; contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal; use KPI’s, performance management systems and reports to improve personal and team’s performance.
Time Management & Activities Planning
  • Plan resources/activities according to demand to ensure business continuity, enhance efficiencies and improve service levels. Actively prepare and participate in team meetings to align priorities.
Compliance
  • Ensure that planning activities comply with corporate standards, SHE requirements, and sustainability policies.
