Job summary

dormakaba Production Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an engineer to drive on-time delivery, lean improvements, and robust product/process development in the Die Casting domain. You will lead mold/fixtures development, manage ECO/change activities, and coordinate with internal teams on DFMs to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Ideal candidates have an engineering degree with 3+ years in manufacturing, experience in mold/fixture design, and a strong grasp of lean tools and APQP/AIM methodologies.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic.
• 3+ years in Engineering Manufacturing or related field.
• Manufacturing and product development knowledge.
• Design for manufacturability including mold/fixtures.
• Lean production concepts and tools; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead mold and fixtures development, design approval, manage suppliers and buy off.
• Lead ECO/ Design Change / Change Application activities.
• Improve machine availability in Die Casting through process improvements.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Manage new projects and coordinate with internal teams on DFMs.
• Utilize AIM and APQP tools for development and qualification.
• Support startup and process development for new products.
• Lead SMED activities and poka-yoke implementation.
• Collaborate with production teams in early development phases.

Job description

Responsible for the on-time delivery of products, at the right cost and the best quality in maximising customer satisfaction. Improve the order fulfilment process in accordance with Lean Philosophy. Support and develop a "Learning Organization" that is able, want to and is allowed to improve process continuously. Timely update and manage all product and process related documentations. Lead and manage all discipline matters too.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mold and fixtures development, design approval, manage suppliers and buy off
• Lead ECO (Engineering Change Order) / Design Change / Change Application activities
• Manage improvement on reducing machine breakdown and increase machine availability in Die Casting department
• Provide excellent support to die casting department by troubleshoot-analyze technical issue and develop implement corrective action and plans
• Manage new project (Product & Processes) and coordinate with customer-Internal team on all processes, DFM (Design For Manufacturing)
• Full utilize AIM (Adaptive Innovation Methodology) & APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) tools
• Support die casting department during startup and process development for new product or new process's introduction
• Lead SMED (Single-Minutes Exchange of Dies) activities & process's poka-yoke implementation
• Take the lead in working with production teams at early phases of part, mold/fixtures and process development

About you

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronic)
• 3 years & above in Engineering Manufacturing, Mechanical / Mechatronic
• Manufacturing and Product Development knowledge
• Design products for manufacturability, mold and fixtures design, utilize lean production system tools/concepts to further improve the parts, production processes and equipment/facilities
• Able to work independently
