Job summary

Ice-Man Sdn Bhd is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the factory engineering and operations team in Malaysia. You will work across automation, equipment performance, and continuous improvement, solving technical problems and delivering practical improvements on the factory floor.

The role focuses on maintenance, automation support, and food-safety-aware engineering standards, collaborating with technicians, engineers and vendors to drive safe, efficient production and process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance or factory operations is an advantage. Fresh graduates will also be considered.
  • Practical knowledge of industrial machinery and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, VFDs and industrial control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with refrigeration, compressors, cold rooms or food manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Awareness of food-manufacturing hygiene requirements (GMP, food-grade lubricants) is preferred.
  • Able to use spreadsheets or basic digital systems to track and report equipment and production data.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve production output, downtime, manpower productivity, wastage, energy and water consumption, and OEE.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring breakdowns and production issues, and follow corrective actions to closure.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve productivity through automation and process improvement.
  • Support trials, machinery installation, commissioning and modification projects.
  • Prepare simple cost and payback cases for improvements and verify savings after implementation.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programmes and maintenance planning.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and automation faults on compressors, pumps, conveyors, packaging machines, water treatment and other equipment.
  • Coordinate with machinery suppliers, contractors and engineering vendors.

About The Role

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our factory engineering and operations team. You will work across automation, equipment performance, factory operations and continuous improvement, solving technical problems and delivering practical improvements. This is a development-focused role with broad exposure across the plant, working closely with the Maintenance Engineer, Manufacturing Executive, technicians and suppliers. The ideal candidate is practical, analytical, safety-conscious and comfortable working on the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities

1.Equipment Performance and Improvement

Monitor and improve production output, equipment downtime, manpower productivity, wastage, energy and water consumption, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring breakdowns and production issues, and follow corrective actions through to closure.

Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve productivity through automation and process improvement.

Support trials, machinery installation, commissioning and modification projects.

Prepare simple cost and payback cases for improvements, and verify savings after implementation

2.Maintenance and Automation Support

Support preventive and predictive maintenance programmes, maintenance planning, critical spare parts and equipment upgrades.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and automation faults on compressors, pumps, conveyors, packaging machines, water treatment and other factory equipment.

Support automation work involving PLCs, sensors, VFDs, motors, control systems and production machinery.

Coordinate with machinery suppliers, contractors and engineering vendors.

Escalate ammonia refrigeration, statutory pressure-system, high-voltage and PLC-programming work to the Maintenance Engineer or qualified contractors.

3.Food Safety and Hygiene

Ensure engineering and improvement work maintains product-zone equipment to food-grade standards hygienic condition, intact seals, no rust, flaking paint or condensate drip onto product.

Use only food grade lubricants and approved chemicals in product zones, with records available.

Apply the plant's glass and brittle-plastic policy, tool and parts accountability, and clean-down before release to production.

Ensure equipment changes, trials and new installations are assessed for food safety and hygiene risk before use.

Support food safety and customer audits with equipment, calibration and improvement records.

4.Operations and Standards

Support daily factory operations so production runs safely and efficiently.

Work closely with production, maintenance, QA and warehouse teams.

Develop and improve SOPs, maintenance standards, checklists and production processes.

Take on increasing responsibility in factory and engineering operations based on demonstrated capability.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering or a related field.

Relevant experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance or factory operations is an advantage. Strong fresh graduates with practical ability will also be considered.
