Job summary

Hong Leong Bank Berhad is seeking a Manager, Strategy & Economic Analytics to translate macroeconomic trends into actionable growth strategies, market playbooks, and opportunities for Relationship Managers across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.

The role requires 5+ years in economic research or strategic advisory within banking or consulting, with strong quantitative skills and proficiency in AI-enabled analytics, Excel, and BI tools. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in economic research, strategic planning, equity research or advisory (banking/consulting preferred).
• Strong quantitative capability and commercial acumen.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI platforms alongside Excel/PowerPoint/PowerBI/Tableau.
• Deep understanding of Asian macroeconomic drivers and policy trends.

Responsibilities

• Drive commercial strategy by analyzing macroeconomic data, industry trends, and regulatory shifts to identify high-growth market segments and build playbooks for SME, Commercial, and Corporate Banking teams.
• Leverage AI analytics to deploy data extraction, quantitative platforms, and market forecasting tools to accelerate coverage.
• Deliver executive insights by synthesizing banking data and indicators into dashboards, briefings, and revenue models for senior management.
• Guide regional expansion by researching sectors across Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Hong Kong to optimize portfolio positioning.

Overview

We are looking for a Manager, Strategy & Economic Analytics to translate macroeconomic trends and sector data into actionable growth strategies, target market playbooks, and commercial opportunities for our Relationship Managers across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive commercial strategy by analyzing macroeconomic data, industry trends, and regulatory shifts to identify high-growth market segments and build deal-sourcing playbooks for Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Banking, Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking relationship managers.
• Leverage Next-Gen AI & Analytics, to deploy modern AI research tools, automated data extraction, and quantitative platforms to accelerate market coverage, financial modeling, and trend forecasting.
• Deliver executive insights by synthesizing complex banking data and external indicators into high-impact dashboards, briefings, and revenue models for Senior Bankers and Regional Management.
• Guide regional expansion by conducting targeted sector research across Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Hong Kong to optimize portfolio positioning.

Who We Are Looking For

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a quantitative field.
• 5 years and above of relevant experience in economic research, strategic planning, equity research and/or advisory with prior experience in banking, consultancy, or stockbroking strongly preferred.
• High quantitative capability, sharp commercial acumen, and hands‑on familiarity with modern AI platforms alongside traditional analytics tools (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI/Tableau).
• Deep grasp of Asian macroeconomic drivers and industrial policy trends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language.
