Job summary

RBC in Malaysia is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to own day-to-day financial matters, lead month-end and quarter-end closes, and ensure accuracy of journal entries.

You will drive balance sheet and P&L processes, support auditors, mentor juniors, and deliver timely financial reporting to support business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day accounting and financial matters.
• Lead month-end and quarter-end closing, with journal entry documentation and QC.
• Prepare and review attestation packages; lead reconciliation efforts.
• Oversee monthly balance sheet and P&L processes for accuracy and timeliness.
• Support day-to-day accounting and financial matters across the team.
• Coordinate monthly financial reporting packages for various stakeholders.
• Respond to auditor queries and ensure timely resolution.
• Lead responses to auditor queries and manage escalation to management when needed.
• Oversee transfer pricing postings and settlements; identify process improvements.
• Perform or review reconciliations of general ledger balances and resolve discrepancies.
• Mentor team members on reconciliation best practices.
• Improve control environment through documentation of financial reporting processes.
• Coordinate support to Legal Entity Reporting teams on cross-functional initiatives.
• Share accounting and reporting knowledge with the team.

Job Description

• Take ownership of day-to-day accounting and financial matters, providing guidance and support to junior team members as needed.
• Lead the execution of month-end and quarter-end closing processes, ensuring timely creation, documentation, and posting of journal entries with quality control.
• Prepare and review monthly attestation packages and lead account reconciliation efforts, ensuring full accuracy and completeness.
• Lead execution of monthly statutory balance sheet and P&L processes, ensuring adherence to timelines and accuracy standards.
• Provide support to the team/business for the overall day-to-day accounting and financial matters.
• Assist with the month-end and quarter-end closing process, including the creation, documentation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger.
• Coordinate the production and delivery of monthly financial analytical reporting packages to support various teams within the enterprise.
• Respond to internal/external auditor’s queries and provide support and resolution to queries.
• Lead responses to internal and external auditor queries and manage the resolution process, ensuring timely escalation to management when needed.
• Oversee transfer pricing postings and the settlement process, ensuring compliance and identifying process improvements.
• Perform or review reconciliations of general ledger balances and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis.
• Lead and mentor team members on reconciliation procedures, resolving complex discrepancies and providing training on best practices.
• Drive improvement of the control environment by leading the creation and periodic refresh of financial reporting process documentation.
• Coordinate support to Legal Entity Reporting teams and manage cross-functional initiatives.
• Mentor team members on accounting and reporting requirements and share knowledge best practices
• Support the Legal Entity Reporting teams as needed.
• Assist with daily Ad Hoc inquires and requests.
