Job summary

EcoOils Group in Sabah, Lahad Datu is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function across the facility. You will oversee planning, execution, team management, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, reliable operation of plant equipment and utilities.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, at least eight years in maintenance in process industries, strong leadership, and the ability to drive CAPEX projects while maintaining compliance with safety

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 8 years relevant maintenance experience in chemical process manufacturing or related field.
• Strong technical knowledge, leadership and supervisory skills.
• Mature, analytical, self-starter and independent.
• Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (both written and speaking).

Job description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance function to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment and utilities. The role will oversee maintenance planning, execution, team management, continuous improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance for mechanical and utility systems across the facility.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years relevant working experience in maintenance in chemical process manufacturing environment or any other related field with proven track record.
• Strong technical knowledge, leadership and supervisory skills.
• Matured, analytical, self-starter and independent.
• Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (both written and speaking.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance team, including engineers, supervisors, technicians and contractors.
• Establish performance objectives and ensure maintenance activities are executed safely and effectively.
• Build technical capabilities within the maintenance organization through coaching and training.

Maintenance Operations

• Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of all plant equipment through effective preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs. Ensure that all equipment under the incumbent’s responsibility remains reliable, safe and fit for operation.
• Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of;
• Pumps and pumping systems
• Chiller and cooling systems
• Steam boilers
• Electrical and instrumentations.
• Experience in PLCs, motors, drives, control systems, and industrial instrumentation would be an advantage.
• Coordinate maintenance when plant is live, maintenance during plant shutdowns, major overhauls, and equipment inspections.
• Plan and execute CAPEX.

Maintenance Planning & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and improve the company's maintenance strategy and maintenance master plan.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and maintenance costs.
• Analyze maintenance data and equipment history to identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Drive maintenance excellence initiatives to improve equipment reliability and plant availability.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety standards and applicable regulations.
• Manage statutory inspections and certifications related to boilers, pressure vessels and other regulated equipment.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with permit-to-work and lockout/tagout procedures.

Budget & Resource Management

• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory and contractor performance.
• Optimize maintenance costs while maintaining high equipment reliability.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades and reliability improvement initiatives.

Reporting

• Prepare monthly engineering report (R&M reports, utility consumption, capex progress) for Management’s review. Monthly monitoring of R&M reports and stock inventories for the department to ensure consistent control and within budgets.
