The GMP Group in Kuala Lumpur seeks a proactive Mainframe Solutions Specialist to drive technical customer engagement and POC activities. You will present mainframe features, guide POC planning and execution, and prepare compliant RFP/RFQ documentation for submission.
With 2–5 years in a mainframe environment and a CS/IT degree, you will install and configure products for POCs, document results, and collaborate with sales, consultants, and vendors. Travel may be required.
Run through mainframe product sales decks with customers, presenting product features, benefits, and use cases clearly and confidently.
Handle customer questions during presentations and follow up on technical queries with support from senior staff or product vendors.
Support customer meetings and engagement activities throughout the sales cycle
When a POC is required, coordinate the end-to-end POC activities — planning, environment preparation, scheduling, and communication with the customer and internal/vendor teams.
Preferably implement the POC hands-on, performing product installation, configuration, and demonstration of agreed use cases in the customer or lab environment.
Document POC results and present outcomes and findings to the customer.
Work on completing RFP/RFQ responses when they are issued — preparing technical write ups, compliance responses, solution descriptions, and supporting documentation within submission deadlines.
Coordinate inputs from sales, senior consultants, and product vendors to ensure complete and accurate responses.
Learn and maintain basic implementation knowledge of the mainframe products in the portfolio (installation, configuration, and common deployment scenarios).
Where required, perform simple implementations of the products for customers or internal environments to build hands-on competency and support the sales process.
Participate actively in product training, vendor enablement sessions, and certification programs — training and guidance will be provided.
2–5 years of working experience in a mainframe environment (z/OS; exposure to CICS, MQ, or DB2 is an advantage).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
Good presentation and communication skills — comfortable presenting prepared materials to customers and handling questions professionally.
Hands-on technical aptitude, with the ability (or strong willingness to learn) to install and configure mainframe products for POCs and simple implementations.
Good documentation and writing skills for RFP/RFQ responses and POC reports.
Strong willingness to learn new products; training and guidance will be provided.
Well-organized, able to coordinate activities across customers, sales teams, and vendors.
Willing to travel for customer meetings, POCs, and job assignments.
