IMCD is seeking a Lubricants Technical Manager to drive growth across the Asia Pacific region, offering equipment expertise, product knowledge, and data management to support the sales organization and distributor network.

The role partners with regional managers and distributors, guiding technical strategies, conducting plant surveys, and leading trials to demonstrate total cost of ownership savings for premium lubricants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of technical services or application engineering experience in the downstream lubricant industry.
  • Experience directly supporting sales teams, operated by distributors.
  • Deep familiarity with industrial machinery operation, particularly stationary power generation engines, industrial refrigeration compressors, and food manufacturing lines.
  • Professional proficiency in English; secondary languages advantageous.
  • Deep knowledge of used oil analysis systems and the ability to interpret large datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the Lubricants Business Development Manager, distributors and customers.
  • Provide product recommendations for specific applications or against competitor products.
  • Investigate and resolve product application problems by conducting root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrate high technical knowledge during customer visits with distributors to support premium products.
  • Conduct plant lubrication surveys using electronic/documented reports/tools.
  • Lead and support customer acceptance tests and field trials to prove TCO savings.
  • Develop, modify and present technical presentations; train customers and distributors.
  • Provide industry-specific field knowledge to distributors and customers regarding product performance and trends.
  • Work with approved contract labs to develop oil analysis programs and reporting.
  • Provide back-up technical support to other regions and segments as required.
  • Create standardized work instructions and training materials; educate stakeholders on system functionality and processes.

Job description

The Lubricants Technical Manager is responsible for supporting the growth of the lubricants business across the Asia Pacific region with a focus on providing equipment technical expertise, product application knowledge, and data management to support the Lubricants Sales organization in gaining, developing and maintaining business and customer relationships. The role partners closely with the Asia Pacific Lubricants Business Development Manager, EMEA Technical Managers and IMCD Lubricant Distributors.

Key Responsibilities

To actively support the Lubricants Business Development Manager, their distributors and customers

Provide product recommendations for specific applications or against competitor products

Investigate and resolve product application problems by conducting root cause analysis

To actively participate in visits to customers with Distributors and demonstrate high technical knowledge which supports our premium, high-performance products.

Conduct plant lubrication surveys, using electronic and documented reports/tools

Lead and support customer acceptance tests and field trials to prove total cost of ownership performance savings to customers

Develop, modify and present technical presentations and organize and participate in training seminars for customers and distributors

Provide industry specific field knowledge to Distributor and customers regarding product performance, customer needs, and industry trends

Work with approved contract labs to develop and support oil analysis programs and develop/manage the oil analysis reporting program

Provide back-up technical support to other technical services advisors in other geographies and segments as required

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion Educate stakeholders on system functionality, best practices, and process standards.

Create standardized work instructions, documentation, and training materials to support the new processes.

And any other tasks as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

Minimum 10 years of technical services or application engineering experience in the downstream lubricant industry or with an OEM or company operating in the gas engine, refrigeration or food sectors of the market.

Proven track record of directly supporting sales teams, operated by Distributors.

Deep familiarity with industrial machinery operation, specifically stationary power generation engines, industrial refrigeration compressors, and food manufacturing production lines.

Professional proficiency in English is mandatory. Secondary languages are highly advantageous for regional collaboration

Deep knowledge of used oil analysis systems and the ability to interpret and analyse huge complex datasets.
