Job summary

AGENSI PEKERJAAN GLOBAL HIRE SDN. BHD. seeks an experienced Legal Manager to oversee corporate legal affairs and provide bilingual legal support for construction and engineering projects in Malaysia.

Based in Johor Bahru with frequent travel to Kuala Lumpur, you will draft and review contracts in English and Mandarin, manage disputes, monitor laws, and help strengthen internal compliance and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of corporate legal affairs or law firm experience.
• Experience in construction, engineering, or project contracting preferred.
• Good knowledge of Malaysian employment and contract law.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin; able to prepare bilingual documents.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple matters; willing to travel to KL.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily corporate legal matters including drafting, reviewing contracts and documents in English and Mandarin.
• Provide legal advice for construction and engineering projects in Malaysia, identifying risks.
• Handle employment and contractual disputes, coordinating with external law firms and authorities.
• Monitor changes in Malaysian laws and provide compliance recommendations.
• Develop and improve internal legal risk management frameworks and policies.
• Travel to Kuala Lumpur as required to support operations.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Legal Manager to oversee legal affairs and provide legal support for our construction and engineering projects in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be based in Johor Bahru and required to travel to Kuala Lumpur when necessary.

Key responsibilities

Manage daily corporate legal matters, including drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and legal documents in both English and Mandarin.

Provide legal advice and support for construction and engineering projects in Malaysia, identifying and mitigating contractual, employment, and operational risks.

Handle employment disputes, contractual disputes, and other legal matters, coordinating with external law firms and relevant government authorities.

Monitor changes in Malaysian laws, regulations, and government policies and provide legal compliance recommendations.

Develop and improve internal legal risk management frameworks and corporate compliance policies.

Travel to Kuala Lumpur when required to support the company's legal and business operations.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or a related legal qualification.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in corporate legal affairs or a law firm.

Experience in construction, engineering, or project contracting is highly preferred.

Good knowledge of Malaysian employment law, contract law, and relevant commercial regulations.

Proficient in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken, with the ability to independently prepare and review bilingual legal documents.

Strong legal analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently and manage multiple legal matters.

Willing to be based in Johor Bahru and travel to Kuala Lumpur when required.
